What’s really going on in America!

By Jamal C. Smith

So here is what’s actually happening in America, where it is going

and why some in white America (specifically) are so frustrated.

1. White people will no longer be the majority in America by the year

2043 according to the U.S. Census Bureau.

2. Due to the huge gap in the amount of workers retiring (baby

boomers) and the workers currently entering the workforce
(millennials), immigrants (which everyone besides Natives and
African-Americans, often one in the same, are) are needed to fill the
gap. It is not true that there are not any jobs. I tend to keep 2 or 3 at
a time myself. The truth is that people are either not qualified for the
jobs available or they do not want to do the jobs available. For
example: If you are stuck in the factory age mindset, which once
dominated, and are unwilling to learn something new, then your
options will be limited (refer to #3).

If you don't believe me that there are jobs, then just look at arguably
one the most important, yet one of the most undermanned career
fields: Teaching. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics projected
about 1.9 million job openings for teachers between 2014 and 2024
yet states are struggling with filling those positions. The problem is
that there are not enough people who are qualified to teach or even
interested in teaching because the pay does not match what
teachers actually bring to the table or what they have to do to
become teachers in the first place. Therefore the demand is high,
but the supply is low.

3. Big Coal is Dead! Get over it and do something different.

Renewable energy sources are the present and the foreseeable
future. Plus there are actually more jobs in it right now. Learn how
to do them and get hired. I wonder how long the Appalachians are
just going to hope for coal to come back before changing their
economic model.
4. People of color are not going anywhere (refer to #1). Furthermore,
businesses have begun to realize that they have to cater more to
people of color because of this. It's still a work in progress, but you
can see the changes happening. People of color are also becoming
more self-aware and self-confident and engaging more in the
processes of America.

5. Affirmative Action was most beneficial for white women. Since its
inception Black unemployment has remained more than double the
national average. There has been some improvement in Black
employment rates in recent years thanks to the Obama
administration.

No one took your jobs. You just got too comfortable and complacent
and did not enhance your skills and/or knowledge.

6. Our “currency” is backed by our labor and spending power. We

have no other resources to back it. We are a nation depended on a
work and spend mentality, which benefits the wealthy, who tends to
invest rather than spend. Why in the hell do you think that wealthy
people have your best interest in mind?

I actually know the answer to that question. It goes back to the

indentured servant dilemma when chattel slavery put them out of
work. They were manipulated by the rich into thinking that even
though they were poor, they were still better than people of color -
hence the birth of white privilege. The same manipulation occurs
today. They are literally depending on a wealthy guy to solve their
problems. They know that he’s not really going to help them get
paid, but they believe that he will be able to re-establish the status
quo of white supremacy. That is called living in a fantasy world!
Forgive my colloquialism, but We Ain’t Having That Shit!

7. White America was NEVER the only America and America was
NEVER great for everyone! That's why I am still baffled by how
baffled some people were about Jeremiah Wright's sermon. It really
just showed how out of touch with reality many people are.
8. We literally could work together and thrive, however many
supporters and participants of white supremacy concepts think that
it's them against the world (which they are the minority in by a lot)
and that they have to defend their “way of life” so that its Trumps
(see what I did there) everyone else’s way of life. What a dumb ass
belief system!

Here are some comments from popular conservative figures after

being shocked that Obama defeated Romney, and convincingly,
during the 2012 presidential election:

"This is not your father's United States. This is a United States with
a permanent high turnout of Blacks, Hispanics and young people." -
Dick Morris

"The white establishment is now the minority." - Bill O'Reilly

"We're outnumbered... We've lost the Country." - Rush Limbaugh

There in lies the problem. Many white people, and quite frankly
people of color, believe that "white America" is America. This is due
to the white supremacy complex which has granted them white
privilege for centuries, whether they are conscious of it or not; rich or
poor. The fact is that many of them don't want to see or
acknowledge that this land was never theirs in the first place.
Furthermore, people of color have always been a part of the fabric
here, they were just considered to be the help in order to keep white
people afloat. Now that people of color are gaining progress and
access, it’s viewed as an attack by some whites. They are literally at
war against progress for all. Equality equals racism against whites in
their warped minds.

Keep in mind that the conservatives’ current disrupt and divide

agenda started when Obama became president in 2008. They even
said they would be anti-Obama before he even started to get to
work. For many white people Obama's presidency and re-election
symbolized a lost of power and control. For many people of color it
symbolized hope. Trump is the white population’s (not all) counter to
Obama, but also, unknown by them, he’s exactly how their agenda
will falter.

Since White Conservative Christians are really the largest supporters

of Trump's divisive and Non-Christian agenda, I challenge them to
answer the following questions:

1. Do you think that you are following the principles of your Bible,
which you claim to follow, in the context of your political and social
views? Give examples.
2. Is white dominance in God's plan? How so?
3. WWJD for the poor and the meek? Are you living in his legacy?
4. Is selling your souls to Trump and the divisive agenda of the
Republican Party worth getting a few Supreme Court nominations so
that they can dictate the lives of the people that you disagree with
(although you claim to want to keep government out of peoples
business)? Or is all of that just an excuse because what you really
seek is the continuation of white exceptionalism?
5. Again WWJD?

Instead of thinking that everyone (people of color, immigrants,

Muslims, etc.) are coming for what's yours, perhaps you should
recognize that nothing has ever been just yours. Your ancestors just
forcefully took and claimed it. Everything has always been for
everyone. The people are just starting to wake up and claim what is
also theirs. You and your way of life are not the only or the most
important models. You are not above anyone else. Get over
yourselves!

We can succeed together or we can suffer together, but we damn

sure are not going back to how things were. It's not "Make America
Great Again." It's “Make America Great Finally!” #jamalism
