POSITION DESCRIPTION

Job summary
Staff at this level are working under limited supervision either in a team
environment or independently. They perform a wide range of tasks
individually or with other team members.
The staff member may be expected to be responsible for the work output
of a small unit as required. Performance management will remain the
responsibility of the Team Leader.
Selection Criteria
Accountability
The staff member accepts responsibility for his or her own work whether
it is carried out individually or in a team environment.
Problem Solving
The staff member is able to deal with routine problems that arise within
their sphere of work without support through the application of acquired
knowledge and reference to standard guidelines and manuals. Complex
problems are identified and resolved with the assistance of others.
Interpersonal Skills
The staff member identifies and reports hazards in the workplace. They
rectify simple hazards at their worksites without direction and report them
accordingly. They also participate in Risk Management activities.
The staff member refers to and complies with Material Safety Data Sheets
for all allocated tasks.
The staff member supervises staff under their control to ensure work is
carried out in accordance with safe working procedures. They provide
appropriate instruction and information to enable staff under their control
to understand the risks involved in the activities they undertake and how
to control those risks.
The staff member ensures that first aid and emergency procedures are in
place and followed when required.
Environmental
They select work methods that minimise environmental risk and apply
appropriate control techniques.
The staff member understands the quality requirements of the tasks they
perform and the reason for those requirements. They perform
measurements to confirm quality both during and on completion of the
work and can compare the results to engineering plans or specifications.
They complete related quality paperwork correctly.
The staff member achieves the basic quality standards required for the
functions for which they have been assessed as competent or have been
formally trained by following established quality procedures.
