PROJECT PROPOSAL ON TUKLAS PINAS

Title : Tuklas Pinas

Sector : Culture
Partner Organization :
Implementing Agency : Mga Kasocsci UNESCO
Project Duration :
Starting Date :
Funding Requested :
Recipient Organization : Mga Kasosci UNESCO

A. Rationale

The Philippines as we all know and learned from school is an

archipelago comprising of 7,107 islands. The country has three main
geographical sections which are Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. But with
recent discoveries and geographical studies the knowledge that our country
has 7,107 islands is now passed due to the newly discovered 534 new
islands in the Philippines. The National Mapping and Resource Information
Authority (NAMRIA) found previously unknown islands to be part of the
Philippine archipelago. In a speech by Environment Secretary Ramon Paje at
the recent Philippine Environment Summit at the SMX Convention Center he
said that the discovered ‘unknown’ new islands in the Philippines are
scattered in various locations around the country.

With the 534 new islands that are discovered, gives birth to the million
reasons why we should discover the various islands that comprise our
country. This also means that there will be much stronger evidences of how
Filipino’s culture and heritage should be learn, untold and share to people.
With Tuklas Bataan, being tagged as a foreigner of our own country will be
suspended because this’ll enable us to be more informed and eye opened of
what our country can offer, what are the things that we’re missing as a Filipino
and what we should understand about our nature, culture, heritage and
antiquity.

B. Objectives

The objectives of this project are as follow:

1. To open the eyes of our countrymen on what are the things they’re missing
being a Filipino in his own land.
2. To engage the students to better understand the nature, culture and
heritage of our race.
3. To establish awareness, respect and nationalism in the minds of the students
of Bataan Peninsula State University – Balanga Campus.
C. Basis of the Proposal

According to the World Tourism Organization, with the participation of

107 delegations of States and 91 delegations of observers, in order to clarify the real
nature of tourism in all its aspects and the role tourism is bound to play in a dynamic
and vastly changing world, as well as to consider the responsibility of States for the
development and enhancement of tourism in present-day societies as more than a
purely economic activity of nations and peoples, and in developing international
cooperation in a spirit of friendship, respect for human rights and understanding
among all States. Tourism is considered an activity essential to the life of nations
because of its direct effects on the social, cultural, educational and economic sectors
of national societies and their international relations.

Its development is linked to the social and economic development of nations

and can only be possible if man has access to creative rest and holidays and enjoys
the freedom to travel within the framework of free time and leisure whose profoundly
human character it underlines. Its very existence and development depend entirely
on the existence of a state of lasting peace, to which tourism itself is required to
contribute.

Within each country, domestic tourism contributes to an improved balance of

the national economy through a redistribution of the national income. Domestic
tourism also heightens the awareness of common interest and contributes to the
development of activities favourable to the general economy of the country. Thus,
the development of tourism from abroad should be accompanied by a similar effort
to expand domestic tourism.

Aside from the help that the discoveries can make in the social, economic and
developmental factors of the place, according to the Republic Act 10066 or the
National Cultural Heritage act, which is the Act Providing for the Protection and
Conservation of the National Cultural Heritage, Strengthening the National
Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) and its affiliated cultural agencies, and
for other purposes, helps us to preserve the ancestral houses, markers and
infrastructure that relives the rich history and heritage of our country. This only
implies that preservation and the awareness of the past is real deal for us Filipinos
especially us youths to be able to share it to the next generations that will pass.

D. Expected Outcome

The students are expected to achieved the following,

1. Instill the importance of our culture and heritage.
2. Understand that we should take responsibilities in preserving and promoting
our rich past..
3. Open minds for a more patriotic and nationalistic people of this country.

E. Possible Risks/Problems and Countermeasures

The possible problem of the project is the cooperation of the students who’ll
have a dilemma on the schedules of the discovery and tour. As counter
measure, we would make schedules that’ll fit most of the contestants.

F. Methodology
G.
H. Monitoring and Evaluation Plan

To monitor the activity, a narrative report will be written, in which it will be

supported by pictures, videos and minutes of the event proceedings.

I. Exit Plan

After all the tours, the photos taken from the discovery will be put in a gallery
to make the other students see the beauty of our own places. These will also
make them understand the importance of such activities as a citizen of this
country.
