Philosophical Analogy of “ Bahala na”

“Diversity means every human is unique”. Before the discussion about “Bahala Na” my

conception of it is different. I can’t remember when I stumble the word but without learning or

asking what is it my conception of it is different when we discuss it , it was only my own

understanding and interpretation. My interpretation is “Bahala Na is when your lazy and don’t

finish what you are doing just because you don’t care what the result anymore. Without knowing

what truly it is , it became a hindrance to me to do my projects , assignments , etc. because every

time I have a project with my group mates or only myself “Bahala Na” is the term I used , when

we/I did something incorrect I just forget about it and say “Bahala Na”. But now I have learn that

“Bahala Na” is doing everything you can then trusting god.

I think that throughout the history of the Philippines/World “Bahala Na” is widely used

but in different language/term. Example we Filipinos preserve and treasure our freedom but

seeing only freedom is foolish there are many contributors and sacfices that had been done in

order to gain our freedom. The soldiers that have died for us just to have freedom and peace, they

have great courage to be able to fight these enemies. But what is the connection of “Bahala Na”?.

If it was in Visayan Language they would say “Bahala na og mamatay mi basta kay

maprotektohan namo ang Pilipinas”, they will do everything, sacrifice everything with all there

power just to protect us and trusting everything to god whether they will live or die. Another

example is our parents, does our parents leave us and take care of ourselves? No , because they

will work and work and work to give you a shelter , food , education and etc. so that will have a
“not-so-worst-life” , in Visayan Language they would say “Bahala na og kapoy basta kay

mahatagan nako og nindot nga kinabuhi akong anak”.

Many people uses the phrase “Bahala na” but being able to differentiate whether it was a

positive effect/ negative effect on them was hard. Because just like my first sentence every

person is unique he/she can choose to be or not to be and we cannot change a persons

perspective. But based on my experienced a person can first think the negative effect without

even knowing because he/she have a different understanding than others then when he/she learn

the true and only meaning of “Bahala Na” he/she can have positive effects . So be conscious to

act everything you before saying “Bahala Na” because it’s a short phrase but a long meaning.
