WE-DO – IT- BEST

You have been invited by We –Do- It – Best, a large Social Service Organisation that recruits
substantial numbers of graduates, to design a recruitment campaign and selection procedures.

The company has become very aware of the importance of recruiting young people and that its
image is one of elitism. That is, in the past only potentially highflyers have been recruited and
selected. It is also aware that it has failed to attract or retain graduate employees in sufficient
numbers. Recent surveys showed that the glossy brochure was “unimpressive”, and exit
interviews indicated that the graduates' aspirations were not being monitored or met.

The management very much wants to change its image with graduates and has asked you to
provide a detailed presentation of proposals.

Task

Working in groups - research and prepare a presentation for the management of the company on
how it should amend its approach to the recruitment and selection of graduates. In particular,
you should consider:

 The work expectations of recent graduates (what will you expect from an employer in the
first few years of employment ? )
 How the organisation should conduct its recruitment and selection ( eg., image,
attraction, techniques of selection )
 How graduates can be retained in an organization?
