I. OBJECTIVES

Along the course of the 48-minute activity, the students should be able to:
 write a paragraph containing verb tenses;
 present in the class their drama and singing presentation; and,
 critique the performance of their fellow classmates.

II. SUBJECT MATTER

 Topic: “Verb Tenses”


 Activity: Singing Presentation and Drama
 Reference: “Better than Carrots or Sticks: Restorative Practices for Classroom Management” by
Dominique Smith
 Time Allotment: 48 minutes
 Instructional Materials: Chalk and Talk

III. PROCEDURE

A. MOTIVATION
 The teacher will greet the students and ask them afterwards if they are excited to resume the previous
activity
 The teacher will ask the students first to settle down and pick up the pieces of paper under their chair.
 The teacher will rearrange the chairs and select the judges from among the non-performing groups.

B. PRESENTATION
 Along the course of the activity the teacher will regulate the noise of the class.
 The teacher will explain the mechanics and the criteria for judging.
 The teacher will give 5-10 minutes for brainstorming.
 Later on, the teacher will let the presenters start their presentation.

AUTHENTIC PERFORMANCE TASK

GOAL To present drama and singing presentation by observing different kinds of


verb tenses

SITUATION The students will be grouped into four. Each group is given a special
task—Choral reading, singing presentation, drama presentation and dance
presentation by observing in their piece the different kinds of verb tenses

C. ANALYSIS
The teacher will ask the students of the following questions:

 How did the performers incorporate verb tense in their presentation?


 What is the main idea of the drama?
 What have you realized from the presentation?

D. ABSTRACTION
 The teacher will let the students see the relevance of verb tenses to writing a composition of different
genres.

E. PRACTICE
 The teacher will ask the students to write on the board the verb tenses that were used by the performers.

IV. ASSESSMENT/EVALUATION
 The students will be assessed through feedback giving and constructive comments on the presentation of
the two groups.

V. ASSIGNMENT
 The student will be asked to study in advance the Direct and Indirect Speech topic.
