GEOTECHNICAL TECHNICIANS/
ENGINEERS IN TRAINING
STATUS: CONTRACT
LOCATION: OSHAWA

currently seeking Geotechnical Technicians/Engineers-in-Training to join our group.

JOB DUTIES
 Proposal preparation and participation in project planning and budgeting, as directed.
 Conducting field work associated with a wide range of geotechnical projects including, borehole
drilling, test pitting, granular compaction testing using nuclear density gauge, testing and monitoring
placement of concrete, compaction testing and placement monitoring of asphalt, aggregate and
material sampling at job site, independent field reviews of various stages of civil construction,
sampling of media, observing and monitoring work practices on construction and development
projects, surveys and assessments, and supporting intrusive investigations.
 Laboratory work may include performing various types of construction material testing, receiving and
logging in of samples, calibration and maintenance of laboratory equipment, and preparation of
laboratory reports.
 Technical interpretation of specifications and drawings.
 Filing and management of all project related field notes including some data entry and assistance
with report preparation and writing.
 Collection of field data, including interviewing of third parties, and compilation of field notes, and
photographs.
 Analysis of data and preparation of technical reports, work plans, and project specifications.
 Coordinate and liaison with contractors, and vendors.

QUALIFICATIONS
 Bachelor of Science or Engineering Degree in a geotechnical field, working toward EIT, PEO, or
APGO
 1 to 5 years employment experience
 Pleasure Craft Operators Card and Valid Driver’s License and access to a reliable vehicle.

- CCIL – Category “0” Concrete Technician
- Category “C” Aggregate Technician, CCIL
- Category “B” Asphalt Technician
- CSA W178 Level 1 or higher
- NACE coating certification
- Independent field reviews of various stages of civil construction and building envelopes
- Advanced report writing skills and technical interpretation of specifications and drawings
