Easter in Ecuador and Australia.

Description

Easter is a Holiday celebrated by Christian people where who remember the death and

resurrection of Jesus; nevertheless, each person has their own customs, traditional food, believes

and special events that make them unique in everywhere.

Comparison

In Australia people celebrate Easter with eggs of chocolate, hidden by Easter "Bilby". Also,

Australia has its traditional food in this celebration, it is shaped Hot Cross Buns, made with

water, flour and dried fruits decorated with a cross on. The most important event in Australia

during this celebration is “The Royal Easter Show”, an agricultural event, where farmers present

the best products of the region like fresh fruit, vegetables, grains and others.

Un Like Australia, in Ecuador there is not chocolate eggs; Ecuadorian people do not believe

in Easter rabbit nor in the eggs of chocolate. Ecuadorian take very serious this celebration so that

the majority of believers take this time for reflection. Additionally, they consume a traditional

food in Ecuador is "Fanesca", a soup which contains twelve grains representing the twelve

disciples. One of the events more important is the Procession of "Jesus del Gran Poder" held in

Quito city, in this event many believers walk during a long period of time while playing and

singing catholic songs next to the sculpture of "Jesus del gran Poder"

Reflection

All in all, in Ecuador Christian people are very devout and it attracted attention to me, while

in Australia in this date are held many cultural and social events different than Ecuadorian

celebration. This difference occurs due to the variety of culture and traditions that exist in each

country. I learned about customs and traditions of these countries and for this reason I think that
if an Australian tourist comes to our country, they will be impressed for the faith that people feel

specially during Easter period.
