RE: Occasional Teaching Position

Please find attached my resume for the Occasional Teacher position that you have advertised on Apply to
Education. I will be graduating with my Bachelor of Education Degree from Lakehead University in April,
2018. Thus far, I have student teaching experience in a Catholic high school teaching math courses
ranging from Locally Developed to University level to Grades 10, 11 and 12 students. I believe that my
teaching experience and my passion for leadership and community engagement makes me an ideal
candidate for a teaching position within your Board.

As a three time All Academic varsity athlete, my dedication to sports and academics has taught me
various skills that are directly transferable to a classroom setting. I have developed excellent time
management skills and have grown to embrace challenge, which is essential in the ever-changing
atmosphere of the classroom. I have a great deal of initiative and I work well in fast paced, high pressure
environments, consistently maintaining a positive attitude. Being a member of a team has taught me the
benefits and importance of collaboration. I look forward to creating new resources and learning from my
experienced colleagues. I follow the philosophy that nobody is perfect and therefore, there are always
areas for improvement and growth.

My knowledge of the subject matter in my field is strong. This makes the assessment of student progress
and the evaluation of students’ results a very smooth and informative process. My commitment to faith
formation and academic excellence for all students results in the creation of meaningful relationships and
engaging lessons. I truly believe the most important aspect to teaching is fostering positive relationships.
Creating meaningful relationships will allow me to implement lessons and activities that address all
students’ learning styles. I feel if you take the time to develop mutual respect with your students you will
be able to create an atmosphere where your students are engaged and eager to learn. As a future
teacher, I am ultimately here to create respectful, responsible individuals who are ready to serve the
world through the spirit of Christ. We must not place emphasis on who gets the credit for the student’s
success, but rather celebrate the success of all students together.

Thank you for taking the time to review my resume. I would really appreciate the opportunity of joining
your team and I welcome the opportunity to speak with you further about my involvement in the school
and community. I can be contacted at 519-802-3185 or via email at jerikabaldin@gmail.com.

Sincerely

Jerika Baldin
