WorldTracer System - General Information

WorldTracer Tracing Is a product of SITA

and Management
Members At present more than 300 airlines / airports / handling agents are
WorldTracer members
Baggage Tracing - One tracing concept replaces the former LL/LZ tracing system
Membership
Baggage Management - WorldTracer Management has a good memory:
Membership Long term storage of all baggage mishandling information. The
system watches the progress of each record and prompts the user
to take the necessary actions.
A statistical analysis system provides detailed reports on the
baggage handling performance and system use.
Claims Investigation - Fraud prevention system that will prevent the misuse of claims in
Membership cases of baggage mishandling, damages and pilferages.
AHL and DPR files are stored on a database to compare claims
world-wide.
Internet Membership This membership provides access for the passenger to his/her
personal WorldTracer AHL file. The passenger can follow up the
state of tracing of his missing bag, as well as communicate with the
tracing office via the Internet.

CGHD/DGR TRAINING MODULE/v 1.0/November 2010 Page 23

Contents Input
Create AHL/OHD with contents with the element CC

Description For each bag in a AHL/OHD file you may enter contents with the CC
element (max. 5 for AHL / max. 1 for OHD)
The line number of the CC element should correspond to the line
number of the CT (Colour/Type) element:
Contents CC01 = Contents for bag CT01
Contents CC02 = Contents for bag CT02….
When you create the file you do not have to indicate the line number of
the CC.

Add/Amend Contents in an AHL/OHD file

Description

Indicate the bag for which you want to add/amend contents: CC01 or CC02…
When you add a new category into a bag with the CC element, just add the new
category
When you want to add more items into a category..input the category with all items
old and new..to overwrite the old input!

Delete Contents from an AHL/OHD file

Description

To delete an item from CC, type CC and the number of bag followed by:
D/ and the category to be deleted:

Example to delete CC inputs:

Contents Categories
CAG (AHL) and COG (OHD)

Notes:

• When you make inputs with the CC element CONTENTS CATOGERIES have to be used.
• Each category is limited to 2 Lines
• You may enter up to 12 characters per bag.
• The categories have lower and higher ‘matching’ values:
3 - Very descriptive categories
2 - More descriptive categories
1 - Common categories

The numbers indicate the ‘matching value’ and they are not to be mentioned in the files!

The system knows 44 standard categories

No “wild card -X-“ characters permitted
You can enter a maximum of 10 bags in one entry
The system assigns a Date and GMT Time Stamp in the output
A -FI- Further Information element can be optional added as a single line of
text.
FI will be only included in WT TNT, not in WM TNT output
The system will match the QOH tag numbers with existing AHL files
The TNT input will also search for existing QOH files.
A QOH will remain in the system for 24 hours
System Prompt after 24 hours for creation of an OHD file.
A QOH can be displayed by DOH and retrieved with the ROF report
Upgrading QOH to an OHD file will delete the QOH
Entry of a -FWD- with the same Station/Airline and Tag Number as an existing

Notes:
When do you set a QOH Input?

You hope (or better you know!) that the passenger will arrive later the same day.
You hope (or you are nearly sure) that the passenger is on board on a special flight and you want
to wait for the request (match with AHL).
You have many unclaimed bags at the moment and you have to set priorities to handle them.

SAH / SOH
Suspend AHL and OHD in WorldTracer Tracing

What do you suspend from tracing?

1. SAH: AHL file = AHL/S
2. SOH: OHD file = OHD/S
3. Individual elements in an AHL File as….TN, CT, BI
When do you suspend?
• When an AHL file is created with a TNT transaction: The system will return automatically the AHL/S
mask, whenever a tag match is found for all tag numbers entered.

• Auto-suspend of single-bag AHL file: A single-bag AHL file will be automatically suspended when a
FWD message exists at the time of creating the file.

• Individual elements of a multi bag AHL file: Suspend the elements (TN, CT, BI) of the bag you
received, incase 1 or more bags are still missing.

What does a suspend file look like?

• A fully suspended File has the indicators /S after the Reference Number:
Example: WM AHL ZRHLX12345/S

• Individual elements suspended in a file:

Example: TN01/S / CT02/S / BI03/S

Close an OHD File - COH

When do you close an OHD?

• You created an OHD file and the passenger later picked up the bag
or
• You created an OHD file and find out that this bag is matching to an AHL at your station
or
• You created a file by error!

But before you close the file please make the necessary amendments.
Advice what happened with the bag!

Matching Process

Description: This chapter describes in detail how the matching process works within
the WorldTracer system.

Basic Principles: The matching process is a continuous process of comparing files that
have just been entered into the system with others also just entered
or may have been resident for a time.

File Comparison

TNT entries check Tag numbers of AHL’s, OHD’s, QOH’s and FWD’s

AHL entries check OHD’s and Tag Numbers of FWD’s and QOH’s

QOH entries check Tag numbers of AHL’s

OHD entries check AHL’s

FWD entries check Tag Numbers of AHL’s

Match Elements
The following elements are used in the matching process:

AHL with FWD or QOH Matches on:

TN - Tag Number only
AHL with OHD Matches on:
AB Address on Bag
BI Brand Information
BP Bag Phone
CC Contents
CP Cellular/Mobile Phone
CT Colour/Type
EA Passengers Email Address
FD Flight/Date
FL Frequent Flyer Identification
IT Initials

TTY
Send Teletype Message

Description this transaction allows you to send a SITA teletype message via the
WorldTracer Management System.

Example Input:

>WM TTY DELLLLX/DELKKLX/CDGLLLX/BOMLLLX

.BOMLLLX
TEXT TEXT TEXT
(Minimum 4 and maximum 1000 characters)
Notes:

Destination address must be separated by a slash -/-, the maximum are 8 addresses.
The address in the second line, after the full stop (.) is your station address.
When you send a message for another airline, you have to place the signature of the other
airline after your own signature, so this airline will be ‘charged’ for the communication costs.
In the example below AF (Air France) will be charged.

Example Input:

>WM TTY DELLLLX/DELKKLX/CDGLLAF

.BOMLLLX/AF
TEXT TEXT TEXT
(Minimum 4 and maximum 1000 characters)

Place a copy of the TTY message in one or into multiple files.

The system allows multiple file references and multiple file types on one line - AHL, OHD and DPR -
The message will be:

Placed automatically in the next available MR of MCH area of the file.

The Date/Time stamp that appears in the TTY output will be added to the text that is transferred to the
MR area.
Sent to the addresses on the top line.

Example:

>WM TTY DELLLLX

WorldTracer Action File

Introduction

WorldTracer Management has an ‘Electronic Mail Filing System’, which will replace all
paper filing system.

WM also replaces the need for teleprinters for most incoming traffic by using the Action
File.

Each WorldTracer Management CRT station within an airline has its own Action File.

An Action File has several areas, similar to ‘queues’ that allows receiving messages from
the system, other departments or airplanes. It will store these messages for up to seven
days. This allows the stations to review/work them any time during that 7 day period.

The Action File also allows WorldTracer Management stations to communicate with
each other using both free from text and standard formatted messages such as
forwarding bags and requesting bags.

Using this combination of Action Files and Teletype Messages, WorldTracer

Management provides a means of communication from any station/department of any
airline to any station/department at any airline.
