Together we flume to the territory of Eelong with our friend, Pendragon, to stop the

territory from being destroyed. The book series Pendragon made by D.J. MacHale is about the

character Pendragon and his journeys fluming to other territories, saving them. Book five takes

you to the world of Eelong with cats that are skilled in fighting, strong, able to speak a language,

and able to stand on two feet. The problem is that an evil traveller by the name of Saint Dane is

helping the territories destroy themself. The good travellers are on a quest to save the territories

and stop Saint Dane forever. The head traveller and main character Pendragon is and must be

resilient enough, brave enough, and caring enough to stop Saint Dane.

Pendragon isn’t the best at fighting, but you can say he is resilient. On page 184-185 it

shows that he won’t be taken out instantly. It says, “I dodged out of the way easily, but this time

I ducked, swept my leg infront of him, and tripped the guy up.” and not just that, but in another

part of the battle on page 185 it says. “I quickly flipped over and went for his knife hand. The gar

was gasping for air and didn’t have a chance. I jammed my knee onto his outstretched arm and

his hand went slack. He released the knife. I grabbed it.” This shows he knows how to fight

pretty well. He has some kind of strategy or instinct in fighting.

Pendragon is also very brave. For one he is risking his life fighting these enemies and

going against Saint Dane, who has much more knowledge than him about territories. Since this is

the fifth book and also seventh territory he’s gone to, he’s been fighting for quite a while and

yeah, he might of had some thoughts about it, but he still is going to save the territories. In this

part Pendragon refuses against a superior species which gets him in a lot of trouble, I would say

this is pretty brave. This happens on page 169 and it says. “I pulled away from Durgen and stood

facing him, trying to look as defiant as possible.” Let’s just say after this he was even told that he

was inferior and got backhanded so badly he passed out. This next part isn’t just about

Pendragon but it’s about multiple travellers and acolytes. Since Pendragon is included and no

one was scared I count this as being brave, page 314. “The green cloud fell gently toward the

ground. The travellers and acolytes waited. And waited.” The green cloud is actually some

seriously deadly poison and the travellers and acolytes were hoping the cure for it would work.

The thing is there was one tank of the cure and nine tanks of the poison so it was really risky. No

one even made a sound or moved, I would be running as far as I could.

This brings us to the fact that Pendragon is caring. In this scene it shows that Pendragon

cares for his friends. On page 286 he tells his friend, Mark, that he can go home. It says, “ I

know. Bobby said. But this isn’t a dream, Mark. It’s on. For real.” As you can see he clearly

worries for his friend and there is another scene where he says again that he can go home. Now,

this scene shows that Pendragon is hesitant to kill. Sure this is just sort of being scared but if he

didn’t care for the gar then he could’ve probably killed the gar with no hesitation. This is on page

186 and it tells you. “Or maybe I realized if I followed through, I would forever be a killer.”

Even though the gar was trying to kill him he still hesitates and shows no anger towards the gar.

Also he is saving the territory, I mean why would you save other territories that have no

connection to the territory you live in, unless you cared.

So, in the Pendragon series book five: Black Water, the main character and lead traveller,

Pendragon, can be seen as resilient, brave, and caring. Resilient because Pendragon fought and

easily defeated a gar. Brave, because he risks his life to save the territories. Then finally caring,

because he worries for others. Though, sometimes he lets his emotions really get to him and that

messes him up really bad. He still recovers, though, and is always there to help.
