Course Description Course Philosophy


Our science classes assist students in becoming Students will build on their teamwork skills by
life-long learners who grow in their understanding of working collaboratively through
the world. The course is based on the Next classwork. Emphasis will be on exploratory
Generation Science Standards and will emphasize activities and rationalizing conclusions.

Opportunities for extra credit will be provided at various


times each semester. These can boost grades but will
not be a substitute for effort during regular assignments.
Homework

Homework is worth a total of 2 possible points for each assignment. Homework is graded on effort.
• 2 points – Student showed complete effort on homework. If work is not completed, students should write a
note about the difficulty she or he is experiencing with the work.
• 1 out of 2 possible points – Student did not show complete effort or simply did not complete the
homework.
• 0 out of 2 possible points – Student did not start or show any effort on the homework.

Homework is usually due the following school day unless the teacher states otherwise. Late homework will only
receive half credit if a day late, no credit after that. If a student has a documented absence, the student has the
next school day to complete the homework when he or she returns to school. If absent for more than one day a
plan for completing the missed work will be agreed with the teacher - see the teacher after class.

Students will be provided with a textbook. Also, required for


this course is:
ü 2 one inch binders equipped with lined paper
ü a pencil
If you have any difficulty procuring these items please see
the teacher. These will be expected at every class.
