As you are aware, the communications industry serves as the connection point for all Americans often driving our daily lives at home, school and work while stimulating the economy by adding close to $1 trillion a year, For the African-American community, it is common knowledge that African- Americans over-index on all facets of communications from television viewership to smartphone usage. For these stated reasons, it is imperative that the communications workforce reflects its consumers who drive the industry, especially African-American consumers. To ensure there is a firm commitment to diversity and the African- American community, we would like to receive in writing within the next 45 days the answers to the following questions from your association: 1. How many African-Americans serve on your Board of Directors for your association and member companies? What is your recruitment process for the Board of Directors for your association and member companies? 2. How many African-Americans serve within senior executive leadership (ie. CEO and his/her direct reports) for your association and member companies? Please list their names and tiles. 4420 Canvow House Orvice BULDING * WASHINGTON, DC 20515 cocHousecov 3. How many full-time African-American employees do your association and member companies employ in the following departments: federal government relations, state and local government relations, public policy, diversity and inclusion, human resources and legal? 4, How many African-American owned firms do your association and member companies employ as vendors including government affairs firms and consultants? Annually, how much money is spent contracting with African-American owned vendors? What percentage does that make up out of your total spending? ‘We look forward to your responses and expanding this dialogue in the near future.
