Why am I traveling?
The need of a young person to travel to expand their horizons is something that I have always
wanted to do, recently I have discovered that the need to travel to discover myself is something
that I have wanted to do.
I have experience traveling through the magnificent country that England is and I adored what I
saw and what I experienced throughout the days that I had to experience the marvellousness that
this country has got to offer, London, Stratford-Upon-Avon, Brighton, Southend-on-Sea, Great
Yarmouth, were just some of the places that I visited.
Now I thought it was time to take this abroad, and why not go back to the country where I was
born ? The country that has so much to explore and to enjoy, Portugal.
During term time I have a busy life at university, most days I am in from 9:00am until 17:00pm
which doesn’t allow me to be able to explore the life of working, or really gives me the time to be
able to undertake workshops that will enhance my skills and my CV in my area of expertise.
Musical Theatre is my passion and what I want to do for my career, but knowing how to sing, act
and dance it’s not skill enough to impress in auditions with my CV, I need something more
impressive and something that will make me feel proud of accomplishing.
So I decided to apply for this bursary to invest in a set of new skills, Circus Skills, Photography
Workshops and Theatre School, something that isn’t taught to us during curriculum time and it’s
something that doesn’t come included on our course, and it will be a skill that will be valuable for
my further career.
I decided that during the summer, time that I intend to realise this trip to Portugal, that I would
invest this money on a after hours circus school, Chapito, one of the most important schools in
Portugal when it comes to Performing Arts.
And EDSAE on a Musical Theatre intense summer school.
I decided this because I want to research on how introducing other skills to the world of the
Performing Arts, specially Musical Theatre is essential to the world we are exposing ourselves to.
The seek of additional funds is mandatory, trips like this are very expensive and the courses I am
looking into undertaking are very money mandatory, nothing comes for free and traveling within
the country would be one of the most expensive traits of this trip and accommodation.
The funds would be spent on paying these little research projects, accommodation and travelling.
Me being a student that comes from a different background, a foreigner background would put me
in advantage for speaking the native language of the country that I am applying to travel to, I
would be able to be more precise when it comes to document the process of this expedition, to
document what I experienced new in the country I was born, to discover myself again as a
performer and as a professional would be an amazing opportunity and this bursary would allow me
to fulfil these dreams of mine.
