Masons in Ohio in 1959 totaled 250,000 – Masons in Ohio now total 80,600
Every Brother needs to become a spokesman for Freemasonry. It's
important to talk with non-Masons about who we are and what we do.
Seventy-six percent of new Masons joined because it is tradition in their
family, someone they respected was a Mason or their friends or
co-workers are Masons.
A Brother who knows of a man that he feels would make a good Mason
should talk to him about our fraternity. After the procedure for
obtaining membership in a Masonic Lodge is explained, the potential
candidate should be left to make his own decision and come of his own
free will.

Companions, April looks to be a busy month. April 7th we will be conferring
the Royal Master and Select Master degrees open at 9AM.
April 28th is our Council inspection in the Super Excellent Master Degree, we
will open at 9AM.
Service Awards Dinner

On the 28 of April at noon following our inspection we are having a dinner
and presenting service awards. This is a joint event for Chapter and Council,
we have one fifty and one sixty year award for Council and for Chapter we
have two 25 year, two 50 year, three 55 year, two 60 year and two 65 year
presentations to make. This event is open to all members, family and friends.
There will be no charge for the meal, however donations will be most
appreciated.

WHAT DOES MASONRY DO FOR THE COMMUNITY

The FRATERNITY of Free and Accepted Masons is the oldest, largest, and most widely known
fraternal organization in the world. Masonry was founded on the principles of brotherly love, relief and truth

organizations, have adopted numerous charitable programs which they support strongly. In fact, the Masonic
Fraternity in the United States DAILY contributes more than $2 million to charitable causes.

OHIO MASONIC HOME

The Ohio Masonic Home’s family of services is dedicated to helping seniors through a wide range of
options. From the retirement campuses located in three areas of the state to home-based services, their caring,

GRAND LODGE OF F&AM OF OHIO

The Grand Lodge of Ohio offers annually two college scholarships in each of its 25 Masonic Districts.
Ohio Masons have also become major supporters of the Ohio Special Olympics, contributing more than
$100,000 every year.
The Masonic Model Student Assistance Program is a gift from the Freemasons of Ohio to the schools
in their communities. The program consists of a three-day intensive training seminar that enables core teams
of faculty and staff members to effectively identify and refer at-risk youth.

SHRINE MASONS
Shriners Hospitals for Children is a network of pediatric specialty hospitals, founded by the Shrine, where
children receive excellent medical care. There are 22 Shriners Hospitals for Children providing care for
orthopedic conditions, burns, spinal cord injuries and cleft lip and palate. If the Children are covered by
insurance, the shrine hospitals now collect those funds but they do NOT bill parents/guardians for care. To date
the Shriners have spent over $3 Billion dollars on hospital operating costs.

SCOTTISH RITE MASONS

Helping children with speech and language disorders is a particular mission of Scottish Rite. They have
established many Children Dyslexia Centers throughout the United States. In creating the Children’s Dyslexia
Center, Valley of Dayton at the Dayton Masonic Temple, it has been their mission to provide professional
treatment - free of charge - to children with dyslexia. All services are available regardless of race, creed, or
Masonic relationship.

OTHER MASONIC CHARITIES

The Royal Arch Masons support Adopt America Network which finds homes for Special Needs
Children; the Royal and Select Masons support programs to help juveniles with diabetes; the Knights Templar
fund a philanthropic eye foundation; the Tall Cedars of Lebanon assists Muscular Dystrophy research; and the
Grotto provides dental care for children with special needs.
