PRELIMINARY
1.1 BACKGROUND
Hammer / hammer is probably the most old equipment is still unknown. Hammer of
the rock known to have been used since the year 2,600,000 BC. [1] [2] The hammer is the
basic equipment for many professions. As an analogy, a hammer was also used as a device
designed to provide collision, for example in a catapult mechanism bullets in the gun.
The use of a hammer as a simple tool to use since there were already 2,400,000 BC
when various shaped stones were used to break down wood, bone, or other stones to smash
and form into another form. Stone hammer made by tying a stone with the handle using a
piece of leather or animal muscle. This stone hammer has been used as a hammer around the
year 30,000 BC during the middle period of the Paleolithic Stone Age. The archaeological
record provides the possibility of a hammer as a tool of the oldest known human.

CHAPTER III
DISCUSSION
3.1 DEFINITIONS
Hammer or hammer is a tool used to give impact to the object. Commonly used for
nailing hammer, fix an object, forging metal and destroy an object. Hammer is designed for
a specific purpose with variations in shape and structure. The general shape of the handle of
the hammer comprises a hammer and hammer heads, with most of the weight is in the head
of the hammer. The basic design of the hammer to be easy to use, but there are also models
of mechanical hammers operated for much greater. Large hammer in Indonesian called with
a sledgehammer.
The main part of the hammer is a hammer head made of solid and strong to give pressure
to the target object without causing deformation in the shape of a hammer.
Hammer shape generally like the ball shape. In most of the hammer used upholstery fabric
has a magnet to pick up tacks. While the hammer ax on one side of the hammer serves as
cutlery.
Hammer made of steel to create sparks, then in industries such as coal mining contained
methane, or in industries with hazardous environments containing flammable gases do not
use steel hammer. In this industry used a hammer with metal that does not create sparks,
such as aluminum or beryllium as the material basis of a hammer.
At present the handle of the hammer is made of durable plastic or rubber. Variations
hammer in general at the head of a hammer with a head bigger than a hammer hammers in
general to provide a broader impact on the size of the nail are manifold.

3.2 TYPES AND FUNCTIONS

 Iron Hammer

The hammer used to pound nails into the object surface is not too hard to pull out nails
from the object that has been nailed. This hammer is not suitable for metal surface objects.Iron
hammer is a hammer that is most often used for functions that apling a lot, especially for the
function of the installation of nails, nail revocation, the beating of an object and also for
demolition. Wooden hammers are generally used for the construction of timber that is usually
used for beating chisel and beatings for the installation of wooden spin.

3
While hammer rubber usually associated with jobs requiring a low blow that scale which is
intended not to injure the object is struck, this tool usually used for pemsangan ceramic, brick
installation, installation of porcelain and also materila other artistic material.

Iron hammer consists of two types, namely a hammer that serves only as a batsman and other
types of hammers that can be as bat and also able to pull out nails.

Iron Hammer size.

Selection of an iron hammer to be adjusted by the user, for example, to pemakuan nail
small size such as 1 inch should be adjusted to the size of a small hammer weight of 1 kg. It is
intended that the load received by the pressure spikes according to the weight of the hammer
when struck. Besides, it will also affect the energy released by the craftsmen Hars.

Size by weight iron hammer head there which consists of a 1/2 size kg, 1kg, 2kg, 3kg,
5kg. For a 10 kg sledge hammer normally used for concrete breaker. Length of the handle is
usually adjusted to the weight of the hammer head.

 Geologist's Hammer

Used to break rocks in order to determine the approximate composition, properties,

mineralogy and history in an effort to collect fossils.Palu "pick point" Is a type of hammer which
has a sharpened end . Palu This type is usually used for the type of hard rock or solid ( massive )
for example in igneous and metamorphic rocks . , Palu " chisel point" ( sedimentary rock ) Is a
type of hammer which has one part that is flat , bias in use for megait layering in the rock to
hook layering in rocks . Hammer of this type usually used for the soft type for example, in
sedimentary rocks .

 upholstery Hammer

Used to grind tacks or small nails, a hammer, there are magnets which function to
facilitate attaching tacks or small nails.

 Cross Peen Hammer

Used to trim surfaces are welded or riveted. Steel on the Cross Peen Hammer oriented
perpendicular

5
 Ball Peen Hammer

The same function with Cross Peen Hammer used to trim surfaces are welded or riveted. Ball
Peen Hammer steel wedge shape spreading perpendicular to the edge of the head.

 Rubber Mallet Hammer

Used to install ceramic because the surface is made of plastic so it does not cause the
ceramic tableware.

6
 Wooden Mallet Hammer

Used to grind chisel

 Sledge Hammer

Used to destroy a wall or a large stone

 Tapping Stone Hammer

This hammer is used at the time of pre-history

7
 Perforated Hammer Head Of Stone

Similarly, Stone Tapping Hammer, Hammer Head Of Stone Perforated used during pre-
history

 Long Cross Face Hammer (blacksmithing)

One frequently used hammers blacksmith to menenpa hot iron

8
 Twist Hammer (blacksmithing)

 Dog Head Hammer (blacksmithing)

One frequently used hammers blacksmith to menenpa hot iron

9
 Straight Pane Sledge Hammer (blacksmithing)

One frequently used hammers blacksmith to menenpa hot iron

 Bush Hammer

Used to create texture, which resembles coarse pockmarked natural weathering of rocks on a
concrete or stone. Palu was created by French sculptor Henri Bouchard.

10
 Hammer Mjolnir

In Norse mythology, Mjolnir is a big hammer or mace used by the son of Freyr Thor to fight.
Mjolnir is the hammer has the power of electricity as the wearer, the god Thor. Mjolnir
symbolized help Thor in many wars and battles. The other source said that Mjolnir Thor is a tool
used to create lightning.

 Welder Hammer

Used to remove residual slag welding

11
 Meat tenderizer Hammer

Used to soften the flesh

 Seismic Hammer

Used for seismic surveys "one of the activities of oil and gas exploration using geophysical
methods with utilization of wave propagation in the subsurface using a vibration source and
receiver shakes run- above ground level.

3.3 HOW TO SAFELY USE A HAMMER

Be it when unpacking a component or installing components. Hammer when viewed

from the visible is the element that is simple, but of kesederhanannya hammer that could be
useful in helping each job.
Some things to consider when working with a hammer, among others, as follows:
a. Before using a hammer, telebih check first whether the condition is feasible to use it or not.
Check whether the crookedness or defect has occurred on the hammer head.
b. Make sure that the handle of the hammer firmly attached to the head of the hammer, lest
apart while in use.
c. Make sure there is no oil on the handle of the hammer.
d. Do not use gloves while working with a hammer.
e. Wear protective goggles while working with a hammer.
f. Ensure a safe place to work around it.
g. Do not use a steel hammer to hit hardened material (tempered material), as much as possible
using a brass hammer or plastic hammer.
h. Regularly check the condition of the hammer.

CHAPTER IV
COVER
4.1 CONCLUSIONS

Hammerhead is is one of the objects used in making a building and mertil is also a
tool used to give impact to the object. Therefore, the hammer is very useful for our lives.

4.2 ADVICE

In the manufacture of this paper, we know and we can see that the hammer so is
useful. In planning or construction of a building we really need a hammer as a tool we build
a building.
