Our Story

When we founded Element Designs in 2003 and introduced the company at KBIS, we knew very little
about manufacturing of our core product, aluminum frame cabinet doors. What we knew was that this
style of door was very popular on the European market and that this trend could become popular in
the US and Canada if a reliable partner focused on lead times, quality and customer service existed to

Recycled Content All of our glass inserts contain at least 20% post industrial recycled content and the
architectural resin uses a high percentage of post industrial material.
Regional suppliers Our aluminum products are manufactured with materials from regional suppliers thus
reducing our carbon footprint.
Exceptional Durability Our aluminum products have an extremely long life time and are virtually
maintenance free.
No VOCs Our aluminum doors, PARAPAN solid surface doors, eluma products and base systems do not
contain VOCs. Because no chemicals or toxins are released from our products, there is zero effect on indoor air
quality. Our backpainted glass utilizes water based paint which is low in VOCs and is safe for the environment.
Post Industrial Waste Recycling All of the waste generated during our manufacturing operations
(primary materials such as aluminum and glass) is recycled. The aluminum extrusion is taken to a local metal
recycling facility. Unusable glass is reused in asphalt production.
Recyclability and Reusability Our aluminum, glass and acrylic materials are completely recyclable.
Our aluminum doors can be reused rather than discarded by simply replacing components (new inserts for
existing doors).
Reclamation We offer a recycling service for all of our products once their useful life expires. Send your
product back to us to be completely and properly recycled.
Packaging Materials Our corrugated edge wrapping, which protects our products in transit, is made
of 100% recycled cardboard and our corrugated boxes have a high recycled content.
Company Recycling It is very important for our company and our employees to divert waste from our
landfills whenever possible. We recycle all cans, glass and plastic bottles, office paper, paper products and
cardboard at our manufacturing facility in Charlotte, NC, thus reducing our carbon footprint. We actively
promote the importance of environmental responsibility and are proud to sponsor a recycling center for our
industrial park.
Aluminum’s inherently sustainable characteristics combined with the extrusion process make
extruded aluminum the green building industry’s material choice for now and the future.

Note to Specifier:
Thank you for considering PARAPAN in your project.
PARAPAN is the highest quality high gloss door on the market
and should be designed in at a premium level. Parapan
is solid acrylic (PMMA) which yields a perfect mirror type
finish with negligible distortions on all surfaces. PARAPAN
is homogenous in nature meaning that it is solid acrylic
throughout and maintains constant color throughout the
entire cross-section. As such, the product is repairable
and absent of adhesives, fiberboard, edge banding and
undesirable by-products associated with adhesives . Due
to its solid state, PARAPAN can be submersed and it will not
delaminate, warp or degrade in humid environments unlike
other constructed high gloss alternatives. When designing
with PARAPAN, please specify: solid, homogenous, acrylic
(PMMA) throughout, low VOC emitting, UV fade resistant,
water impervious characteristics to prevent substitutions of
inferior high gloss materials. Substitution with products of
laminated construction are not permitted.

Technical specifications subject to change
PARAPAN® has a smooth and non porous surface. This means that dirt
does not adhere to it. When cleaning, use lukewarm water with a few
drops of mild dish detergent. It is recommended that a soft, lint free cloth
be used for cleaning PARAPAN®. The cloth should be thoroughly rinsed
before use. Do not use scouring powders or other abrasives. Do not
use products containing any oils. Components made from PARAPAN®
surfaces must not come into contact with organic solvents such as
thinners, alcohols, fuels, acetone (nail polish remover), benzene or carbon
tetrachloride. Do not wipe away dust with a dry cloth.
Removal of Marks
Polishing removes marks such as scratches and seals the surface. Polishing
should only be done after PARAPAN® is thoroughly cleaned and dried.
Never use paper towels to clean or dry PARAPAN® as they can cause
fine scratching on the sheet surface. Deep scratches can be removed
by progressive step wet sanding, finishing with an 800 grit abrasive, prior
to polishing.
Finish Maintenance
We strongly recommend ACRIFIX™ AC1010 plastics cleaner, made
especially for PARAPAN® and available from Element Designs. The
cleaner prevents electrostatic buildup and makes PARAPAN® easy to
clean.
