Students will be able to demonstrate their hand eye coordination by copying a
drawing from an image and making their own version of it.
Students will be able to create a resist technique, by using an oil pastel and
then painting over it with watercolor.
Students will be able to show their individuality by making their painting in their
own Ish style.

- Watercolor paper
- Watercolor paints
- Paint brushes
- Water cups

Management of the Instructional Environment


- Students are aware of the classroom rules that were given to them by the
teacher at the beginning of the year.
- Students have assigned seating and are aware of the teachers
expectations.

Technology Integration
- Powerpoint Presentation with Instructions and pictures of the project.

Diversity and Equity (Accommodations, Modifications, Adaptations)


- There will be a visual and written instructions on the powerpoint for
students and if necessary can be printed out for a student whose IEP
requires it.
- Students who are hard of hearing or cannot see well will be allowed to sit
closer to the the teacher when reading the book.
- If the student needs more direction the teacher will choose which
drawing they will do for them.

Activities/Procedures
Day 1 (one hour class period)
- The students will come into the classroom and sit at their assigned seat.
- The teacher will then have one table at a time come sit in a circle on the
carpet.
- The teacher will then read the book Ish by Peter H. Reynolds
- After the teacher is done reading the students will go back to their seats.
- Once the students are in their seats the teacher will explain the project,
and will project the instructions on the screen.
- The students will each get a piece of watercolor paper and some oil
pastels, as well as watercolor paint with a water cup and paintbrushes.
- The student will begin by drawing one of Ramon’s Ish drawings with an
oil pastel. They will get to choose from a tree-ish, a house-ish, a boat-ish,
a fish-ish, or a sun-ish.
- After they have finished the drawing they will paint over the the lines with
watercolor to make a background. This will work as a resist and the oil
pastels will show through.
- When they are finished they will place their drawings on a drying rack.
