Lesson Plans for week April 9

Monday April 9
Objectives:
● Students will work on an ELA AIR test prep activity
Procedures:
● The teacher will pass out an ELA AIR prep activity
● The teacher will explain the activity
● Students will work on the activity until the end of class
Modifications:
● Co-teachers moving about the room helping students to get the assignments
understood and performed properly
● Students are given a practice test in preparation for the upcoming state test
● Sections of reading are read aloud to students
Assessments:
● Formative- Students will complete an ELA AIR test prep activity for participation

Tuesday April 10
Objectives:
● Students will work complete the AIR Assessment
Procedures:
● Students will complete the AIR Assessment

Thursday April 12
Objectives:
● Students will comprehend the background information for Soldier’s Heart
● Students will complete a research-based activity on the Civil War
Procedures:
● The teacher will pass out the guided notes for the presentation
● The teacher will present background facts and setting of the civil war on the
powerpoint presentation
● The teacher will pass out a research-based activity
● Students will work on the activity until the end of the period
Modifications:
● Co-teachers moving about the room helping students to get the assignments
understood and performed properly
● All assignments and worksheets read aloud
● Students are given guided notes
Assessments:
● Formative- Students will be completing a research-based activity over the Civil
War

Friday April 13
Objectives:
● Students will complete an activity based upon letters written to and from soldiers
during the Civil War
Procedures:
● The teacher will pass out the materials for the activity
● Students will read the letters given to them
● Students will analyze the letters, pulling out details, emotions, and reflection
● Students will then be given an event (battle, hunger, disease, wound, rest) and
write a letter back home about the event
Modifications:
● Co-teachers moving about the room helping students to get the assignments
understood and performed properly
● All assignments and worksheets read aloud
Assessments:
● Summative- Students will be writing letters “home” about their war experiences in
a writing exercise worth 20 points
