A mailer for the house of blues in Cleveland.
Objective:
To have an interesting mailer, that informs the person of a
year long calendar of events.
Goals:
To keep with the feel that is, visual blues and keep with the
style that started in southern juke joints. The mailer should
focus on one style of event, in this case the rock an roll
side of music that springs fourth inside the building. The
mailer should adhear with mailing proportions, but still have

Menu design for the Atlas Tap House
Objective:
To create a more interesting menu for their drink and food menus.
Goals:
To keep with the theme they have created and is seen in both of
their identities. This theme is centered around ancient Greek, most
notably around the titan Atlas, who was sentenced to hold up
the world.
Audience:
Adults, ages are not defined strictly. The age requirement of alcohol
consumption is the only real age gate.
Issues:
While their identities hold to this Greek theme, it isn’t a Greek
restaurant, and the inside of the building itself holds nothing of
Greek value. This makes it a challenge to make it feel like their

it is. Textures, patterns, color, and type can have an ancient Greek style and not be too
powerful to be misinforming. It also, should feel like a tap house, and not like an
over priced restaurant for the well dressed.
Mandatories:
Menu for each of items they sell. This includes food, and drinks. Needs to keep
with the identity they have going and also not be too misleading.
Deliverables:
A Menu for both food and drinks. Possibly two additional items which could
come in the form of: a coaster and possible growler.

2016 Annual Report for Electronic Arts.
Objective:
To create a more visually interesting annual report.
Goals:
Create an interesting annual report, sticking with the information in
the current report. Also keep with the feel of the company.
Audience:
Shareholders, employees, etc of Electronic Arts.
Issues:
EA’s style isn’t that held down, sometimes they feel slick, modern,
other times sports related and rough. The idea will be to mix these
different forms of style into one cohesive place.

Slick and modern opening, use of photos and die cuts to help add
visual interest. Images to help get information (such as graphs)
across in an interesting manner
Mandatories:
Categories for the report should include letter to shareholders,
mission statement and financial highlights (which include graphs,
charts and statements/balance sheet)
Deliverables:
2016 annual report that is visual interesting, but hold to the

Objective:
To Inform the residents of Lake Erie, on the problems of algae
blooms, move to clean and take the issue more seriously.
Goals:
To make the overall audience aware of the issues surrounding them
today, as it stands most don’t know such an issue is around and
believe its in the past. It is in fact something that happens every
year, but with different levels of concern.
Audience:
Mostly adults in the larger lake Erie area. Focusing around Ohio.

the Sandusky area. While it is seen as small and less serious as the crisis parts of

For at least fifty years, phytoplankton and algae blooms have
been a regular occurrence in summer on Lake Erie. The micro-
scopic, floating plants generally start to flourish in June and July
as the water warms and stratifies, and their numbers typically
peak in August and September. But it’s not every year that a
bloom leads to the shutdown of water supplies in an American or
Canadian city.
The dominant organism in the Lake Erie bloom is Microcystis
spp., a type of freshwater blue-green algae that produces a toxin
harmful to humans. If consumed, Microcystis can cause numb-
ness, nausea, dizziness, and vomiting and lead to liver damage.
(In rare cases, it can be deadly.) On August 2, 2014, environmen-
tal monitors for Toledo and surrounding towns in northwestern
Ohio determined that public water supplies had levels of micro-
cystin toxin that were higher than recommended by the World
Health Organization (1.0 parts per billion). They warned residents
not to drink or cook with tap water; boiling is not effective
against the toxin. Though the bloom has continued, treatment fa-
cilities have since added extra filtering steps (including activated
carbon), and public water sources were declared safe again Blooms of microcystis and other species of phytoplankton occur

(mainly phosphorous and nitrogen) are plentiful due to decades
of runoff from farms and cities. Research suggests that the arrival
of invasive zebra mussels in the lake has changed the food web
in ways that may promote certain algal species by removing
competitors. And as the southernmost and shallowest of the Great
Lakes, Lake Erie warms quickly and the water column tends
to stagnate in layers, without much mixing to distribute heat or
nutrients. Microcystis thrives in this environment, and the blooms

Yet the bill could and should be much stronger. The proposed
limits on manure and fertilizer application would affect only
western Lake Erie; they ought to be statewide. The ban on open
lake dumping would not take effect until 2020, and even then
would provide loopholes.
