THE FUTURE SIMPLE

!! Viitorul simplu se formeaza cu auxiliarul shall (la persoana I sg/pl) si will (la persoana II
si a III-a sg/pl) + infinitivul scurt al verbului principal. Shall, folosit rar în engleza oficială, nu
se mai folosește în conversație fiind înlocuit cu will.

(+) Su +SHALL/WILL+Vb (short infinitive)


(-) Shall/will+ Su+V(short infinitive).
(?) Su+shan’t/won’t + Vb (short infinitive)?

Uses:
a) expresses an action that will take place in the future
I shall read this book.
They will do their homework.
You will finish the work later.

b) expresses offers/requests or promises:


I’ll open the door for you.
I’ll be there for you when you need help.
Will you turn the light off, please?

c) expresses decisions made now


I know! I’ll got o China this summer.

d) expresses facts about the future


The new airport will be the biggest in Europe.

THE FUTURE CONTINUOUS

(+) Su +Shall/Will+BE+V-ing
(-) Su+Shall not(shan’t)/Will not(won’t)+ be +V-ing

Uses:
Expresses an action taking place in a definite moment in the future.
He will be working this time tomorrow.
We will be working on Christmas day.

THE FUTURE PERFECT SIMPLE


Forms:
(+) Su+shall/will+have+V-past participle
(-) Su+ shall not (shan’t)/will not (won’t) + have+V-past participle
(?) Shall/Will+Su+have+V-past participle?

Uses:
It expresses an action that hasn’t yet taken place but which will be accomplished at a
future moment:
By the time the general manager arrives at the office, the assistant will have typed all the
letters.
By this time tomorrow, I will have finished writing my graduation paper.
By the time father comes, we will have already fallen asleep.
