Assignment 2 Part 2
Reflection questions

1. For the four learning styles I received:

Visual=7
Auditory=9
Read-write=5
Kinesthetic=8

The four thinking style categories my score was:

Concrete Sequential=36
Concrete Random=20
Abstract Sequential=16
Abstract Random=48

2. I thought I was aware of my thinking and learning styles before the surveys but I
was wrong. I am a bit surprised how close my results are for the learning styles. I
definitely thought kinesthetic would be my highest one, as I love working with
examples and I’m the type of learner who likes hands on processes. It is also
surprising how auditory came out to be my highest as I find I can get bored easily
especially in auditory only lectures and become disengaged. Although I do find
myself to enjoy talking out problems and my best method of studying is to teach
someone what I am learning. I am completely surprised with the results of my
thinking style, I thought I would have been in the Abstract sequential section and
that ended up being my lowest result! I tend to be an organized linear person, but
from further reading to what Abstract Random really means I do follow this
category pretty well. I do believe I have a pretty artistic mind and therefor the
abstract random suits me!

3. When problem solving I am finding I do better when working with a partner

doing hands on step-by-step rules. Talking through the process and working
together is what I find has helped me solve the problems. I have noticed some visual
learners in the class who draw out the problems to solve them, the read-write styles
in our class who write it all out. These are both not my styles when problem solving.
For thinking style, I find in problem solving I like to follow each step and this is why
I am surprised I do not fall under sequential. Within the last few classes I do notice I
sometimes make up random numbers and answers for problems which sometimes
work and that could be the abstract random style I follow. As far as academic work
as a university student I find this information is important to know. I have always
found in school I struggled with testing (especially multiple choice) and exceeded in
projects and presentations. I now will focus more on my stronger styles such as
listening and working through whatever course in a hands on type of way.
