TATA TRUCK 2518 CHASIS

A. SCOPE OF WORK:
Fabrication of Water Tender on TATA Model LPT 2518 Turbo EX 6X2 BS III chassis as
per specification with required accessories and equipment as per Technical specifications
(Specification no: TBRL/SED/11/10K) The Fire Tender shall be fabricated with the best
material and good workmanship, ensuring effective and efficient operation of the Tender. All
wiring shall be properly fixed in position & shall be protected against heat, oil & physical damage
wherever necessary wiring shall be pass through PVC sleeves. All important electrical circuits
shall have separate fuses suitably indicated and grouped in a common fuse box located in an easily
accessible position. Drag Hook or eye of adequate strength & design shall be provided at the rear
and front of chassis.
The tenderer shall submit three sets of conceptual drawings showing plan, section &
elevation and load distribution diagram with appliances fully loaded in their technical bid.
B. SPECIAL TERMS & CONDITIONS:-

1. Only the firms which has already supplied minimum of 50 Nos. of fire tenders to
reputed firms during last two financial years. (i.e. 2009-10 & 2010-11) shall be
qualified.
2. The document proof for the above is required to be submitted by the firms along with
their technical bid.

Specification for Water Tender Type-X (IS:6067-1983)

I. The Water Tender Type-X shall be fabricated on TATA Model LPT 2518 TURBO
EX 6X2 BS III Model Single cab having wheel base of at least 4880mm and BS-III
Approval.
II. Chassis shall be supplied free of cost by TBRL for fabrication and the same will
be collected by the firm after getting the supply order.
III. After fabrication the fire tender shall be delivered at TBRL Ramgarh Range by
the firm.

1. WEIGHT, SPEED AND SIZE SPECIFICATIONS:


1.1 The Water Tender Type-X shall be fabricated in a manner so as to confirm to the
following characteristics.
a) GVW : Not to exceed 25000 kg including crew, water & equipments.
FAW : 6000 Kg.
RAW : 19000 Kg.
Note: The firm shall provide load distribution chart at the time of delivery.
b) When traveling at 48 kmph on level dry surface, the foot brake shall be capable of
stopping the vehicles within a distance of 15 m from the point at which the brake is
applied. The hand brake shall be capable of holding the fully ladden appliance on a dry
surface gradient of 1 in 4 when in neutral gear.

c) The appliance shall have the following overall dimensions.


Wheel base : 4880 mm
Turning circle diameter : 25 m
Min Road Clearance : 270 mm
Overall width : 2.5 m
Overall length : 9.10 m

2. GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:-
2.1 The appliance shall have a water tank capable of carrying 10,000 liters of water.
A pump should be mounted at the rear of the appliance and driven through a PTO
of 1: 1.27 ratios from the vehicle engine. The pump should be capable of
delivering not less than 4000 lpm of water at 7.0 kg/ cm2.
2.2 The monitor and hand lines must employ the self aspirating type of foam producing
system where aeration is done at the branch pipe. The expansion ratio of the foam
produced shall not be less than 8 times with the use of foam compound to Indian
Standard specification No. IS-4989 (1947) to give performance indicated in para
2.2 at induction rate not exceeding 6%.
2.3 A variable round the pump proportionate should be fitted between suction and
delivery of the fire pump. The proportionate should have five position selector
valves. The off position should isolate the proportionate so that the appliance can
be used as water tender.
2.4 A hose reel service shall be provided on the appliance. In addition to water carried
on it, it should also be possible for the appliance to use water from a hydrant or a
static tank.
2.5 The appliance shall be capable of towing a trailer and a standard towing hook
confirming to IS specification shall be fitted at the rear of the appliance.
2.6 Inspection shall be carried out by TBRL team in three stages.

3. MATERIAL SELECTION AND TREATMENTS:


3.1 The choice of material to be used in the construction of the appliance shall be
made with a view to combine lightness with strength and durability.
3.2 Timber shall not be used in body construction.
3.3 All parts which form water ways or come in contact with foam compound shall be
of corrosion resisting material or suitably treated with corrosion resistant
compound. All metal pipe lines shall be hot dipped galvanized after completing
fabrication of pipe lines inclusive of flanges/joints as the case may be. All metal
parts exposed to atmosphere shall either be of corrosion resisting material or

treated suitably to resist corrosion. Pipes used shall be at least of medium duty
and shall withstand two times the maximum working pressure.

4. DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION:


4.1 Water Tank
4.1.1 The water tank mounted on the chassis should be capable of carrying 10,000
liters of water. The water tank should be fabricated from minimum 5 mm thick MS
Grade 2062 sheet for the bottom and 5 mm for the top, side, front & rear. The Baffle
plates will be 3.15 mm. The tank shall be suitably baffled in both the direction to prevent
surge shield the vehicle is acceleration, cornering and braking. The baffles shall be of
bolted panel type. The bolting shall be done with the stainless steel bolts and nuts.
The tank shall be so designed and mounted as to bring the centre of gravity of the
appliance as low as possible. The mounting shall permit full rated contents of the tank to
flow into the pump.

4.1.2 Suitable lifting eyes shall be provided on the shell of the tank to enable the tank to
be lifted off the vehicle for repairs/replacement as necessary. The water tank with all its
fitments shall withstand hydraulic pressure of 0.3 kg/sq.cm.

4.1.3 The tank shall be fitted with a main hole of 45 cm dia on the top of the tank and
also be fitted with a removable strainer. The main hole should have a hinged cover
(convex type) so that the main hole should also act as a filling orifice. The main hole
cover shall be clearly marked water .The drain cock and pipe shall be of not less than
75mm dia water way throughout. The drain pipe shall be taken down to a point well below
the chassis without reducing effective ground clearance when fully loaded and shall
discharge away from the wheels.

4.1.4 One over-flow pipe of not less than 100 mm internal dia shall be fitted to the tank.

The pipe shall be so designed and located to ensure that water will overflow through the

pipe only while refilling the tank, but no water shall overflow through this pipe when the
appliance is in motion, is standing on uneven ground and/or brakes are applied to the
moving appliance.

4.1.5 Two filling pipes (Hydrant connections), each with an internal diameter of not less
than 63 mm instantaneous male coupling incorporating a strainer. The inlet of the filling
pipes shall be fitted at the pump control panel. The hydrant connection shall also feed
hose reel equipment. Fool proof arrangement shall be made to prevent pressurization of
the water tank while refilling through the filling pipes. Suitable arrangement should be
provided to ensure that the water from the tank does not leak through the filling pipes.

4.1.6 Thick toughened glass tube type water level indicator for the water tank shall be
provided and calibrated as empty. 1/4, 1/2, 3/4 and full. A gun metal drain cock shall be
fitted at the lower end of the tube.

4.1.7 Suitable arrangement should be provided for self filling of water tank directly from
the pump using a 50 mm pipe line.

4.1.8 The plumbing between water tank and pump shall have a clear and unobstructed
water way of not less than 125 mm throughout. The draw off shall be protected by brass
wire screen filter.

4.1.9 The plumbing between the pump and hose reel shall have a clear water way of not
less than 25 mm throughout.

4.1.10 All plumbing shall be reasonably accessible for maintenance purposes. Drain
cocks shall be provided where necessary and controls for these shall be readily
accessible and so arranged as to prevent the cocks from being opened by vibration. The
direction in which the valve/cock opens/closes shall be clearly marked near each
valve/cock.

4.1.11 The tank shall be sand blasted from inside before Epoxy coating. The tank shall
be subjected to Dye Penetration Test (DPT). The work shall be done in presence of
TBRL Team during the first inspection stage. The water tank shall be given an epoxy
treatment to its inside for corrosion resistance. The epoxy treatment shall consist of
two coats of primer with two coats of epoxy finish.
4.1.12 The tank shall be connected to the pump and hose reel and control valve shall be
provided in such a way that any of the following operations are possible.
a) Hydrant to tank.
b) Hydrant to reel.
c) Tank- pump -reel.
d) Hydrant pumps reel/adopter 100 mm X 63 mm.
e) Pump to tank.
f) Tank – Pump – Monitor

4.2 Normal Pressure Hose Reel

4.2.1 Normal pressure reels will be provided at an appropriate place on the fire tender.
The normal pressure hose reel will be made from carbon steel. The hose reel bearings
will be made of gunmetal. There will be no gland sealing for the hose reel and the sealing
will be done by means of O rings. The design of the hose reel will be such that it will
accommodate 60 mtrs of high pressure hose having 19.0 mm bore. The hose reel will be
hydraulically tested for 21 kg/cm2. The hose reel pipe will be of high pressure type having
working pressure up to 10 kg/cm2 and would be of reputed make with ISI mark.

4.3 Pump:

4.3.1 The fire pump shall be of gun metal construction. It shall be vehicle rear mounting
centrifugal fire pump capable of having output of 4000 LPM @ 7-8 kg/cm2
(Normal pressure). The pump shall have suction inlet and four delivery outlets for
normal pressure application through hand lines & two inbuilt connection for monitor
and also connections for hose reels.

4.3.2 The pump manufacturer shall have state modern pump manufacturing facilities and
must have ISO 9001: 2000 Quality certifications with regard to Design Aspect.

4.3.3 Reputed brands of U/L listed pump that conform to the technical specifications
and EN norms with CE certificate and U/L certified as mentioned above will be
accepted.

4.3.4 The pump shall meet International Quality Standards as per EN 1028 and must
have CE marking & U/L listed accordingly. Pump shall further confirmed with
following specifications and performance.

4.3.5 Pump Type:


The fire pump shall be of normal type. The pressure section shall be of single
stage centrifugal.

PUMP PERFORMANCE

i. The pump shall perform following duties.


ii. Normal pressure output : - 4000 lpm at 7-8 kg/cm2
iii. Maximum pressure in normal pressure mode : 12 kg/cm2
iv. Deep lift test of the pump from 7.0 mtrs (after considering the allowances as per
IS 950-1980)

4.3.6 Material Of Construction:

The overall pump construction shall be high strength Gun metal. The normal (low)
pressure impeller, volute, delivery manifold, wearing rings shall be made of
gunmetal confirming to Grade II of IS 318 / 1981. The pump shaft shall be made of
stainless steel confirming to IS 6603/1972. The bearing housing shall be made of
C.I. All studs/bolts coming in contact with water shall be of stainless steel.

4.3.7 Pump Construction:

The normal pressure impeller shall be mounted on a single shaft. The normal
pressure impeller shall be dynamically balanced.

The pump shall have self-adjusting mechanical carbon seal with carbon to Mar
Chrome interface.

The pump shall have inbuilt Pressure Release Valve (PRV) which operates
automatically, not to allow the pressure to increase beyond 15 bar. The pressure
outlet size shall be of 25 mm.

The Thermal Relief Valve (TRV) shall be fitted with the pump, which helps to
control the temperature within 420 C of pump water.

The pump shall be of modular in design and shall have no gaskets/packing. The
arrangement shall be such that while carrying out the pump maintenance work none
of the discharge piping shall be necessary to be removed and pump impellers and
the carbon seal can be attained/removed without removing the pump volute/body.
The pump shall have deep groove heavy-duty dual angular contact bearings
immersed in oil bath.

The pump shall be having one suction inlet of 100 mm having round threads
confirming to IS 902 – 1974 and four nos. of 63 mm delivery outlets having screw
down type valves fitted with instantaneous couplings as per IS 903/1993. The
delivery valve screw shall have no gland.

4.4 Pump’s Primer:

4.4.1 Dual primer-PRIMTIC reciprocating system (fully automatic) & Exhaust ejector type
shall be fitted to the fire pump. The priming system shall be fully automatic in
action and require no attention whatsoever from the pump operator other than
throttling the engine once the pressure is achieved in the pump. The type of primer
shall work from 1000 rpm to 2500 rpm. Pump priming shall be accomplished even

at engine idling speeds. At normal temperature and pressure conditions (NTP) this
type of primer at its recommended speed 2000 rpm shall prime the pump from
3.0 mtrs----------------------within 12 seconds
7.0 mtrs----------------------within 35 seconds

4.4.2 The pump shall attain dry vacuum 640 mm of Hg. The reciprocating pistons shall
be made up of stainless steel (In investment casting) and reciprocate in special self
– lubricated linear bearings. The cylinder and priming valve housings should made
up of gunmetal. In this priming system there should not be clutch cone assembly,
crank shaft, connecting rod, worm gear, manual operated engage/disengage lever.
The eccentric cam shall be fitted on the pump’s main shaft & through this cam; the
primer pistons shall be operated. The primer shall disengage automatically at a
pump pressure of 1.5 to 2.0 bars.

4.4.3 Pump Tests:

1. The pump shall also be tested for the following Tests:


i. Static hydraulic test of assembly at 21 bars.
ii. Dry vacuum test shall attain 640 mm of Hg with in 20 seconds
iii. Deep lift tests 7 meters within 35 seconds at NTP condition.
iv. The pump shall be kept running for a period of three hours non-stop delivering
the rated pressure output with a suction lift of 3.0 mtrs.
v. All relevant material test certificates shall be issued by appropriate laboratory
shall be submitted.

The tendered firm shall submit documents and brochures with regard to the pump
for verification of the technical specification and quality along with fire tender while
delivery failing which the tender shall be rejected.

4.5 Cooling System:

4.5.1 In addition to radiator cooling, an indirect cooling system of the open circuit type
shall be provided discharging water to the waste. This shall enable full power output to
be maintained during continuous stationary running of the engine without over heating.

4.5.2 The operating temperature of the engine cooling water shall be thermostatically
controlled.

4.5.3 The oil in the oil sump shall be prevented from over heating and the pump
characteristics shall be chosen in a manner so that the engine does not run at its
maximum speed for giving maximum output.

4.5.4 Suitable gauge for cooling water and glow lamp for lubricating system shall be
provided in the driver’s cab and on the pump panel. This shall be marked with operating
temperature.

4.5.5 The cooling water outlet pipe from P.T.O. & additional cooling tank should be
connected through a G I pipe and brought back near the pump panel. A flexible rubber
pipe at least 5 meter long shall be connected to the open end of the pipe through a
threaded adopter so that waste cooling water could be discharged away from the vehicle.

4.6 PTO (POWER TAKE OFF VAS/SYAL/FIREFLY MAKE OF SUITABLE RATIO)


A full torque P.T.O assembly of suitable of transmitting full torque of min. 6000 nm
shall be provided with competent certificate. The P.T.O shall have an inbuilt cooling
system. The driving shaft between the main transmission & the P.T.O shall be of fully
universal type with provision for lubrication.

4.7 MONITOR
A long range Manual Water Monitor shall be fitted on top of the tank & shall
be capable of delivering 3000 LPM @ 7 kg/cm2. The monitor should be capable of
traversing 3600 in horizontal plane & 750 & - 150 in vertical plane with discharge

range of 70 M (water). The long range Aqua foam monitor shall be provided. The
detailed specification of the Monitor is as under:

A ventury connection shall be provided to enable foam suction from external


source

4.8 FOAM PROPORTIONING SYSTEM

An around the pump proportioned shall be fitted between the suction and delivery
of the pump which inducts air foam liquid into the water stream. It shall comprise of a
collector valve and an inductor. The foam inductor shall have selection option of 3%, 6%
and off. Off position isolates proportioned thus allowing the pump to operate in normal
manner. Auxiliary foam pick up connection to take foam from Outside shall be provided.

4.9 PUMP CONTROL PANEL:


The following control shall be provided at the rear pump operating control panel.
a) Pressure gauge calibrated to 17.5 kg/sq cm.
b) Compound gauge calibrated as follows:
i) Pressure from 0 to 7 kg/sq cm.

ii) Vacuum from 0 to -1 kg/sq cm (760 mm of mercury)


c) Engine throttle control.
d) Selector valve
e) Control valve for auxiliary foam connection.
f) Ball valve/Butterfly valve for tank to pump.
g) Valve for engine cooling..
h) Valve for hose reel control.
i) Valve for direct filling of tank.
j) Ball valve for monitor operation.
k) Two 63 mm male instantaneous hydrant connections with control valve.
l) Suction inlet of pump with isolating valve control.
m) Two 60 mm female instantaneous delivery out lets of pump with wheel type
quick closing clack valve.
n) Control for flushing out the foam making equipment and its plumbing.
o) Glow lamp for engine lubricating system.
p) Temperature gauge for engine radiator.

4.10 BODY WORK AND STOWAGE:


4.10.1 Enclosed accommodation with double compartment for driver and leader in the
front seat and crew of five in the rear seat shall be provided. The design of the cab shall
be such that it shall afford maximum possible vision for the crew and shall ensure
adequate ventilation. Two hinged doors shall be provided on both sides of the appliance
giving ready access to driver and crew. The doors should open outward, these shall hung
forward and have locks with double catch striking plates. Non slip steps and grab rails
coated with plastic shall be provided to assist the driver and crew to get in and out. All
the seats should be fitted with 100 mm thick foam cushions. Driver’s seat should be of
adjustable type. All glasses fitted to the door windows shall have winding type regulator
and shall be of splinter proof safety type. Two Nos sun visors one on each side should be
provided. The construction of the cab shall be such that the roof shall support the weight
of two men without damage.

4.10.2 The cab and the lockers should be of composite construction with sufficient rigidity,
reinforcement and is to be kept as light as possible, 32 mm X 32 mm X 1.6 mm thick
square pipes of sufficient strength shall be used for the super structure. 16 Gauge
aluminum sheets shall be used for paneling work of driver’s cabin and for exterior
paneling work all over.

4.10.3 Lockers shall be provided for stowage of all the equipments given in the list of
equipment at Appendix ‘A’. Suitable arrangement shall be provided for securely clamping
all the accessories in the lockers. These shall be quick release type. Shadow markings
shall be done for indicating location of all accessories carried in lockers. The lockers shall
contain a list of articles kept in each locker for easy identification. All lockers shall be
provided with internal automatic lighting arrangement with master switch in the cab. The
lockers shall be weather proof and self draining to release all water following a wash
down etc. The lockers shall be easily accessible from ground level to a man of average
height (1.67m). The doors of the lockers shall have efficient means for holding the open
door and efficient flush fitting spring loaded locks. The tank shall be covered from side,
rear & top with aluminum plain sheet & aluminum chequed sheet 1.5 mm as per
suitability.

4.10.4 Storage of B.A. Set & Fire Suit: - Suitable arrangement shall be made in crew
cabin i.e. in the rear of crew back seat for vertical storage of B.A. set 4 Nos. & Fire Suit
02 Nos.

4.10.5 Details of CO2 Equipment: - The CO2 equipment shall comprise of 4 Nos.
cylinders, each having a capacity of not less than 22.5 kg. with an aggregate capacity of
90 kg. Discharging through a common manifold into a single CO2 hose reel with not less
than 22 m length and of minimum 12 mm bore high pressure hose. The CO2 cylinders,
valves etc. shall confirm to relevant Indian Standard.

4.10.6 Details of DCP Equipment: - Suitable arrangement shall be made for 4 Nos. DCP
fire Extinguisher each having capacity of 10 kg.

4.10.7 Provision shall also be made to carry four Nos of 100 mm dia X 2.5 m length of
suction hoses in convenient location on the roof top of the vehicle.

4.10.8 The grab rails with two bars and approximately at 200 mm height shall be provided
on top left and right of the appliance.

4.10.9 Ladder Gallows Gallows shall be provided to carry 10.5 m aluminum extension
ladder. The design shall be such that the ladder can be released without difficulty from a
reasonably accessible position and embody rollers to permit easy withdrawal by one man.
Means shall be provided for locking the ladder when stowed.

4.10.10 Tools Kit Container: A suitable box shall be provided for carrying all the normal
tools, carried on the appliance.

4.10.11. An electric bell to send signals from rear pump control panel to driver’s cabin
shall be provided on the pump panel.

4.10.12. Foot Board: One foot board at the rear of the appliance shall be provided.
Chequred plate shall be provided on the foot board.

4.10.13. Suitable grab rails plastic coated and non slip steps shall be provided to give
access to the roof of the appliance.

4.10.14.Stability: The stability of the appliance shall be such that when under fully
equipped and loaded conditions (equipment weight of crew to be loaded in lieu of the
crew), if the surface on which the appliance stand is titled to either side, the point at
which over turning occurs is beyond 27 degrees from the horizontal.

4.10.15 One Electric winch 12V/24V DC Inder/ LIFT/Rasay make operated complete of
5.5 ton capacity will be mounted on front of vehicle with Remote.

5. PAINTING AND MARKING:

5.1 All parts of the appliance shall be of good workmanship and shall have
streamlined finish.
5.2 The entire appliance shall be painted in “Fire red” on the outside with “DuPont”
make paint. The fire service insignia painted in gold and black colour on both side
of the vehicle. Owner’s name as indicated should be written in golden colour on
both sides of the vehicle. The paint shall confirm to IS: 2932-1974.

5.3 The driving compartment and the inside of lockers shall be painted gray.

5.4 The chassis and wheel arches shall be painted black & yellow respectively.

5.5 Water piping shall be painted red, Foam compound piping black and water/ foam
solution black and red stripes.

5.6 Two coats of anticorrosion and a priming coat shall be applied before painting.

5.7 The appliance should clearly have the following marks at suitable locations.

* Manufacturer’s name or trade mark.


* Year of manufacture.
* Pump number and capacity of the pump.
* Capacity of water tank in liters.
* Engine and chassis number.
* All instrument controls shall be identified with name plate.
* All valves and hoses inlet and outlet shall also be identified by suitable
name plates.

6. LITERATURE ACCESSORIES AND EQUIPMENTS:


6.1 The following literature shall be provided:
a) User Hand Book:
With illustrations both for operating & normal maintenance procedure for the
appliance.
b) Workshop Repair Manual

c) Illustrated Part Identification List:


The illustrated part identification list shall cover the following:
i) Details of all sub assemblies and each component used for the
assembly.
ii) List of accessories and normal/special maintenance tools.
iii) List of recommended spares for normal maintenance for two years
operation and one overhaul.
iv) List of bought out items with manufactures name & address.
v) The IPL should contain current price list of each item.
d) Technical data (drawings with dimensions material specification etc.) for
spares and accessories including hardware items and fast moving spares shall be
provided by firm.

6.2 Accessories
The following accessories shall be provided in addition to those normally fitted on modern
commercial vehicles.

a) Fire Bell A 252 mm diameter (Natural Tone Carillon) Fire Bell shall
be mounted externally and shall be capable of being operated from
within the driving compartment. The bell shall be hand operated type.

b) Fog Lamps Two: Low mounted and of design approved by purchaser.

c) Revering Light Two Suitable situated to assist reversing.

d) Light Bars with PA System Cum Siren: - Rotary Red & Blue light bars
with PA system cum Siren 75 W with ‘Grand’/Sholphin make and electrical loud
speaker.

e) Trafficators – 1 Set: Illuminated with indicating light on instrument panel


or in any other prominent position in driving compartment.

f) Search light- One: Adjustable to give flood or beams light, mounted in a


convenient position but capable of being readily disconnected and mounted on a

6.3 Equipment : The appliance shall be supplied completes with equipment detailed
in Appendix ‘A’,A-1&A-2

7. ACCEPTANCE TEST:
The appliance shall be impacted to verify the design for quality, performance,
maintainability and reliability in respect of each sub assembly and the entire equipment.
The equipment shall be inspected to check the fulfillment of various clauses of the
specification. There after the following tests shall be conducted. These tests shall be
carried out at the manufacturer’s site. All the material required for such tests will be
provided by the manufacturer till acceptance.

7.1 Fire tender shall be inspected to verify the design for quality, performance,
maintainability and reliability in respect of each sub assemble and the entire equipment &
shall be inspected to check the fulfillment of various clause of the specification. It shall
thereafter be subjected to performance tests after due running in as recommended by the
manufacturer, followed by pump endurance test for 100 hrs duration in continuous 4 hrs.
Cycles of operation. The pump shall be run at the first duty point for three hours and
thereafter for one hour at the second duty point each four hours cycle. In case certain
sub assemblies such as Power Take off, pump, primer etc. are not found to be of the
proven quality, these shall be additionally tested to type test. The equipment shall
thereafter be subjected to road tests for a total 300 kms running. The vehicle will be run
for 250 kms on tarmac roads at normal/maximum speed followed by Cross Country
running for 50 kms. After the mobility trials the equipment shall be examined for structural
sturdiness and the performance tests shall be repeated for compliance. Any major break
down during mobility performance tests shall call for retesting.

a) Brake Test:
To check braking efficiency as per clause 1.1.
This shall be carried out with the appliance fully loaded.

b) Load Distribution:
The front axle, rear axle and total weight of the loaded appliance shell be checked as per
clause 1.1.
c) Stability test:
To check fulfillment of requirement as per the clause.4.10.14
d) Pump Endurance Test:
(i) Pump shall be run for a period of 24 hours duration in continuous 4 hours. Cycles
of operation. The pump shall be run at the first duty point for three hours and there after
for one hour at the second duty point in each four hour cycle and three meters suction lift.
During this test the water shall not be replenished for the cooling system and the
temperature of the engine oil should not exceed 115 degree C or 90% of the oil
manufacture’s rated temperature (whichever is less and engine shall show no signs of
distress during the test) The temperature of the cooling water (radiator water) shall not
exceed 85 degree C.
ii) The pump casing and impeller shall be subjected to a hydraulic pressure of
twice the rated pressure or one and half time the shut off pressure, whichever is
more to detect any leakage, perforation etc.
iii) Test shall be made to check the fulfillment of the requirements laid down in
Para 4.3.3
iv) Primer Test: The lift for the primer test shall be measured from the centre of
suction eye to the water fulfillment of the requirement as laid down in Para 4.4
v) Foam making equipment test : These shall be applied to check the induction
ratio of the foam compound, total foam discharge rate through monitor and
side lines, expansion ratio of produced through monitor and side lines using
foam compound available in India.

8. MANUFACTURE’S CERTIFICATE AND GUARANTEE:


8.1 The manufacturer shall furnish a guarantee for the material, workmanship and
performance of the appliance for a period of two years from the date of receipt of
equipment.
8.2 The manufacturer shall give a certificate regarding the fulfillment of the
requirement of the requirement laid down in this specification.
8.3 The manufacturer shall be responsible for replacing any part which may become
unserviceable due to use of defective or sub standard materials and bad
workmanship during the period of guarantee, free of all charges.

8.4 The manufacturer shall guarantee supply of spare for a period of at least 10
years from the date of effecting delivery of the equipment to the consignee.
9. MARKING
9.1 Each appliance shall be clearly and permanently marked with the following
preferably on a metal plate attached in the driver’s cab and also at the rear
pump operating control panel.
a) Manufacture’s name or trade mark.
b) Year of manufacture
c) Capacity of Pump (in lpm), water tank and foam tank (in liters.)
d) Engine and chassis number.
e) Pump number.
9.2 A brass plate with operating/maintenance instructions suitably engraved on it
should be provided on the pump operating panel for easy reference for the
operator.
