2. JOSEPH JUNGMANN (1889-1975)


Josef A. Jungmann (1889-1975) was an Austrian Jesuit and one of the greatest historians of
the liturgy in 20th century. His researches did much to shape the liturgical renewal ratified
and encouraged by Vatican II. Jungmann served both on the preparatory commission before
the Council and on the concilium that enacted the reforms after the Council.
