Mahaprajnaparamita Hridaya Sutra


Sheng Yen translation

Avalokiteshvara Bodhisattva, with nothing to attain, bodhisattvas,


while coursing in deep prajnaparamita, relying on prajnaparamita,
perceived that the five skandhas are empty, have no obstructions in their minds.
and transcended all suffering. Without obstructions, they have no fear.
Far beyond inverted views and dreams,
Sariputra, they reach the ultimate nirvana.
form is not other than emptiness,
and emptiness is not other than form; All buddhas appearing
form is precisely emptiness, in the past, present, and future
and emptiness precisely form. rely on prajnaparamita
So are sensation, perception, and realize perfect enlightenment,
volition, and consciousness. anuttara-samyak-sambodhi.

Sariputra, Therefore, know that prajnaparamita


all dharmas are marked with emptiness; is the great mantra of wisdom,
they are neither born nor destroyed, the mantra of great clarity,
neither pure nor impure, the unsurpassed mantra,
neither increasing nor decreasing. the unequalled mantra,
which removes all suffering.
Therefore, Sariputra, It is true, not false.
in emptiness there is no form, Recite the mantra of prajnaparamita:
no sensation, no perception, Gate, gate, paragate, parasamgate, bodhi svaha!
no volition, no consciousness;
no eye, ear, nose, tongue, body, mind;
no sight, sound, smell, taste, touch, thought.
There is no realm of sight,
through to no realm of cognition.
There is no ignorance
or ending of ignorance,
through to no aging and death
or ending of aging and death.
There is no suffering, no cause of suffering,
no cessation of suffering, and no path.
There is no wisdom and no attainment.

Therefore, Sariputra,
