Tutor Mentor: Instructed fifth and sixth grade students, primarily English Language Learners and students with
special needs or identified as disadvantaged, in their Science and Reading classes. Tutored students one on one
and in small groups, both in their classes and by pulling them out for more intensive work in the library. Assisted
with testing accommodations.
John Tyler Community College Writing Center • Chester and Midlothian, VA • January 2013-July 2015
Lead Tutor: Peer tutored students (ages 17-52) enrolled in developmental English classes, including recent
immigrants and former felons. Worked with disadvantaged students and English Language Learners who were not
yet reading and writing at college levels through one on one tutoring and small groups. Conducted individual
tutorials online over email or Google Drive. Assisted professors in their classrooms. Trained numerous new tutors
and created and maintained the center’s record keeping system so that the program could be externally evaluated.

Art and Drama Counselor and Year Round Programs Counselor: Designed, planned, and implemented art and
drama instruction with a wide range of fourth through seventh graders, from gifted campers to campers with
special needs, at an outdoor camp setting. Differentiated instruction to ensure camper safety and fun. Also
facilitated year round programs with adults, girl scouts, and birthday parties.
