UNIT/CHAPTER OBJECTIVE/GENERALIZATION/BIG IDEA:


● This lesson will teach students how to measure the correct usage of adding numbers. .

LESSON OBJECTIVE:
● Students will be able to add number correctly, relate adding to everyday life, and learn how to comprehend ways to use
adding.

STANDARDS ADDRESSED:
● List the State/District and/or Common Core standards addressed in the lesson. Also list ISTE’s NETS*S standard if
technology use is applicable.

MATERIALS:
● Material we will use is I pads, paper, pencils, and calculators.

BACKGROUND and RATIONALE:


● The key concept is having the students be able to understand how to add numbers.
● In this lesson students should be able to address how adding is used in everyday life.
● In the previous lesson the students pair together items that were the same; so now they are adding the items together.
● The lesson in a whole is adding, subtracting, multiplication, and division. All together they all will be used to solve a whole
math problem that includes all the different ways to solve math problems.
● Having the assessment and actives different will help students solve the problems in different ways.

PROCEDURES AND TIMELINE:


● Introduction: I will have students work together and repeat after me, so that they can be alert and concentrated.
● Procedures:
(10 min) How video about adding
(20min) Teach the rules of adding.
(15mins) Adding Activity- students will get in groups and add marbles together.
(20mins) Adding Assessment
(10 mins) Have student challenge each other as a class.

● Closure: At the end of the lesson, I will have the students quiz each other on adding.

ASSESSMENT EVIDENCE:
● Formative assessments that are apart of the lesson are that students will be tested on how well they can add numbers.

MODIFICATIONS:
● For students who didn’t do to well on the assessment will be tested again after a small lesson about adding to the whole
class.
● Students who are ready will be introduced to the new lesson.
