Post Lesson Reflection

1. To what extent were lesson objectives achieved? (Utilize assessment data to justify your level of achievement)

I feel that the objective of this lesson was not achieved by most of my students. As we were aiming to understand the role
and purpose of various English language elements like figurative language and punctuation, but this lesson was structured in
a way that only allowed students to think about the definition of the various elements.

2. What changes, omissions, or additions to the lesson would you make if you were to teach again?

I feel that my students would need a longer period of time to discuss the objective, as it was a large understanding my
students had not yet had the time to consider prior to this lesson. The inquiry questions was ignored and if I were use this
activity again, I would probably use it as a refresher and study activity to help remember vocabulary, not to understand the
purpose of language.

3. What do you envision for the next lesson? (Continued practice, reteach content, etc.)

If I were to continue the next day, I would have gone over the various vocabulary, focusing on the areas where these sixth
graders struggled, like parts of speech, and discuss why we learn them and how they help our understanding. There would
need to be another day in the upcoming weeks in which we discuss the role of these various elements in our way of
communication.
