Program of Activities
Pre/post-DPITB: Thursday 26th February and/or Tuesday 3rd March
7:00 am to 5:00 pm. Pelagic boat trip ex Port Stephens. WEATHER PERMITTING, and subject to minimum
number of 13 participants. Cost $100, payable on boat, cash only.
Friday 27th February
6:00 pm. Registration at Hunter Wetlands Centre, 412 Sandgate Rd, Shortland NSW 2307.
7:00 pm. Welcome BBQ dinner at Spoonbill Café, Hunter Wetlands Centre.
Saturday 28th February
7:30 - 10:30 am. Morning bird photography outing.
11:00 - 12:00 am. Option1. Dr Ian Wilson - 7 Deadly Sins Found in our Gallery. Notes provided.
Option 2. Gary Leete, Frameco - Practical aspects of framing photos. A “hands on”
workshop.
12:00 - 1:00 pm. Lunch Break
1:00 - 2:00 pm. Ian Boyd - Difficulties of photographing flying birds & how to overcome them.
2:00 - 4:00 pm. Canon Collective Ambassadors hold “hands on photographic experience” with Canon
cameras and allied equipment and applications. Limited to 30 participants.
4:30 - 6:30pm Afternoon bird photography outing.
Sunday 1st March
7:30 - 10:30 am. Morning bird photography outing.
11:00 - 12:00 am. Option1. Dr Hannes Northdurfter, Swarovski Corp. - Digiscoping & Binoculars.
Option 2. Kevin Wilson shows how to use Tom Oliver’s critique method for all types of
photos, from birds to landscapes, architecture etc. Notes provided.
12:00 - 1:00 pm. Lunch Break
12:15 - 12:45 pm BirdLife Photography Annual General Meeting. Sandwiches & drinks provided.
1:00 - 2:00 pm. Dr David Hollands - Owls, Frogmouths & Nightjars of Australia.
2:00 - 3:00 pm. Option 1. Dr Graham Cam - Post-processing with Lightroom and Photoshop.
2:00 - 4:00 pm Option 2. Epson Corp & Kayell Aust. - Image workflow: Printing the Epson way, with
demonstration printing equipment & latest ancilliary equipment.
4:30 - 6:30pm Afternoon bird photography outing.
7:00 pm Closing dinner at Spoonbill Café, Hunter Wetlands Centre.
Monday 2nd March
Day trips to be advised by host club, the Hunter Bird Observers Club.

Note: all workshops/lectures on Saturday and Sunday will be held at the Hunter Wetlands Centre.
