To Whom It May Concern:

My name is Rick Homan and I am a consultant and former sessional teacher in

the Faculty of Education at the University of Lethbridge. I am writing this letter for
Miss Ashley Enslen, a former student of mine, as testimony that her development and
performance in Professional Semester Two was commendable.

Ashley did an excellent job of preparing and teaching effective lesson plans with
appropriate learning outcomes and objectives in accordance with Alberta Programs of
Study. As well she created a detailed Social Studies Unit Plan that was meaningful,
integrative, value–based and that actively engaged her students in the inquiry process.

Ashley treated her students firmly but with respect in order to provide a safe and caring
environment for them to learn in. In this regard Ashley’s teacher associate Jennifer Ivins
commented to me that, “Ashley demonstrates genuine concern for her students and the
students love how she treats them.”

Ashley taught Grade Six while at the Kainai Middle School in Standoff, and did an
excellent job of infusing computer technology into her lessons. She was provided an
opportunity to teach a number of subjects including Social Studies, and excelled in her
ability to create a variety of activities that connected well with the related outcomes but
also appealed to the many learning needs and styles of her students. She was flexible in
her ability to adapt to a number of school activities and events, clearly showing her value
of students first. The degree of planning and the variety presented in her lessons served
to keep her students focused and interested.

Ashley accepted the professional responsibility that goes with the career of teaching by
being organized and prepared each and every day. She participated in school activities,
got to know her colleagues and showed a total commitment to becoming a successful
teacher.

At this point in her development, Ashley has met her professional responsibilities in all
areas. Since, she has further challenged herself to raise the bar and to add to her
professional tool kit as she continued her journey through the Faculty of Education as
well as her PSIII which she completed at Dr, Probe Elementary in Lethbridge during the
Spring Semester of 2018.
I would not hesitate to recommend Ashley for any teaching job because she displayed a
variety of teaching skills and the related responsibilities that would make her a strong
addition to any staff.
Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions you might have in this regard.

Sincerely,
Rick Homan
