CHAPTER I
INTRODUCTION
one of the subjects in the classroom is funded on the curriculum used. The
term curriculum covers all the arrangements the school makes for the
students activities, teaching approaches, and the way in which teachers and
people can make sense of them. Trough speaking, they can express their
ideas and communicate with others.2 When speaking, the students learn
how to organize the idea, express the language in spoken from with good
pronunciation and stressing. They also learn about how to convey the

People use language to express inner thoughts and emotions, make senses
fulfill our wants and needs, as well as to establish rules and maintain our

Based on the data in table 1.1, in VII C class there were 17 students of 29 students
who passed the test based on criteria of minimum mastery (KKM) and 121
students failed. In this case, the students’ score KKM in SMPN 2 Bakauheni was
75 and there were many students who got difficulty in speaking were 12.

one of the teaching strategy consists of methods and techniques or procedure that
affects the ability of students to get information to the material, in this case the
teacher must have a strategy that is able to meet the needs of students’.
From interview to the teacher, the teacher said that the students had low because
they feel difficult and are confused in organizing the structure and in expressing
their ideas in speaking. They were not interested in English lesson because they
felt that English was difficult to learn. They were lack of vocabulary and they

From those explanation, the writer inferred that in teaching and learning process
of speaking the teacher applied audio visual in several class. But, the result some
of students are good in speaking activity but another low. In fact, audio visual is
analyze the process of applying audio visual and find the problems faced by the
teacher and the students in teaching speaking activity. Therefore, this research is
entitled: An Analysis Speaking Skill Based On Audio Visual At The first Semester
Academic Year.
Seeing the background of the problem above, the writer identified that there are
some problem :
In this research, the Writer focuses on the process of An analysis speaking skill
base on audio visual at the First Semester of the Eighth Grade of SMP Negeri 2
Referring to the background of the problem, the writer formulated the research
problem as follows:
