Introduction
Any teacher must have some goals that she wants to achieve in each year that she teaches in.
For me as a student teacher I chose these 5 specific goals that I want to achieve in my last
semester in college.
Goal 1: Controlling the student’s during the lesson.
This is my first goal that I want to achieve for this year. I chose this specific goal and it was
nearly the same as the previous PDP goals because I saw that the class is not listening very well
to the teacher and the MST can control them but after a while they forget what she said and
just start again with the bad behavior. The strategies that I will use is that when the students
will start the bad behavior which is talking or disturbing other students is that I will stand still
without talking, the students will feel that something is wrong with the teacher because she
stopped talking then they will notice that she is waiting for them to be quiet. The other strategy
is making the students know the consequences of the bad behavior, if the students knows what
will happen if they did a bad behavior then they will think before doing anything and they be
away from the bad behavior. To achieve this goal I think that I will take around 3 weeks because
I’m new to the students and they must respect and behave like when the MST is there in the
classroom. I will need the MST’s help where she can give me new ideas or strategies specifically
for the bad behavior. Talking to the MST and the teacher assistance will help me know more
about the student’s behavior in classroom.
Goal 2: To be more active and animated during teaching.
The second goal is to be more active in class and more animated during the teaching. I chose
this goal according to my MCT’s feedback from my last teaching practice. The strategies that
will use is smiling more to the students so that they feel comfortable with me because if I was
too serious then they might have the feeling of stress. The second strategy is to active in class,
moving around and not sitting in one place will make the students more focusing during the
class. 1 week is enough to achieve this goal because I think it will not take time from me to be
always active and smiling. I will need help from the MST where she can tell me what can I do to
be more animated while teaching. After each class I will ask the MST about how active I was in
this lesson and according to her feedback I will improve in the next class.
Goal 3: Improve the transitions in the classroom.
The third goal for this teaching practice is to improve the transitions in the classroom. I chose
this specific goal because I saw that the MST doesn’t use transitions strategies during the
lesson. The first strategy is to make the students move from the carpet to their table by table
group, so the students in one table will move first and then the next table. The second strategy
is make the girls move first to their tables and then the boys move. These strategies will make
moving form carpet to table smoother and without any loud voices. This goal will take about 3
weeks because the students will have some difficulties in recognising that they will not move all

together in one time because they were all moving together with the MST. I need the MST’s
help to give me new strategies that may help to improve the transitions in the classroom.
Talking to the MST will also help to avoid any problems that may occur if the students didn’t
listen to me.
Goal 4: develop relationships with students.
The fourth goal is to develop my relationships with the students. I chose this goal and it is the
same as last semester because I went to a different class which is grade 2 because I think I need
to know more about the children. The strategies that I will use to achieve the goal is to sit and
talk with students, sitting with the students will make them feel comfortable with the teacher.
Another strategy is to help the students with their problems, this will make the students ask the
teacher anything that they don’t know about during the classroom or even issues form outside
the class. I need the MST support to know more about the students and to know the ability of
each of them. Sitting with the students outside the classroom will help me develop the
relationships with students more.
Goal 5: to increase my skills in giving instructions.
The fifth goal is to increase my skills in giving instructions. I chose this goal because I need to
make sure that the students understood the instructions very well so that they don’t struggle in
the activities. The strategies that I will use is to tell simple and clear words that the students
understand because if they didn’t know a word that you told then they will have difficulties in
understanding the instruction. The other strategy is changing the voice tone when giving the
instruction, making your voice more serious will make the students know that they must listen
to the teacher and understand the instructions. MST will give me feedback to tell me where can
I improve in and what can I do to increase my instructions skills. Giving the students written
instructions will help the students if they didn’t understand or if they forgot an instruction.
