Equipment and Supplies

In the experiment, the sodium hydroxide (NaOH) solid, 1 M NaOH solution, distilled water
(H2O), 0.5 M and 1 Hydrochloric acid (HCI) were used as supplies. Next, the analytical
balance, pipette, spatula, thermometer, Erlenmeyer flask, beaker, and glass rod were used as
equipment.

Test Procedure
Part A: Heat of NaOH Solution (Solid NaOH + Distilled water)
The experiment for heat of NaOH solution was began with 25 ml of distilled water were
pipette into a 50 ml Erlenmeyer flask. Then the temperature of distilled water in 50 ml
Erlenmeyer flask was measure when it reaching to room temperature as Ti. Next, the 0.5g
NaOH were added into the Erlenmeyer flask. The glass rod were used to stir the mixture until
the NaOH were completely dissolved. Lastly, record the temperature of NaOH solution as Tf.

Part B: Heat of NaOH Neutralization (NaOH Solution + HCI Solution)

The experiment for heat of NaOH Neutralization was began with 25 ml of 1 M hydrochloric
acid (HCI) was pipette into 50 ml Erlenmeyer flask. Then the acid was allowed to stand until
it reaching to the room temperature before it be measured as Ti. Next, the 25 ml of 1 M
NaOH solution were adding into the Erlenmeyer flask. The glass rod were used to stir the
mixture solution mix. Lastly, the temperature of mixture was recorded as Tf.

Part C: Heat of NaOH Solution (Solid NaOH + HCI Solution)

The experiment for heat of NaOH Solution was began with 25 ml of 0.5 M HCI was pipette
into 50 ml of Erlenmeyer flask. Then, the temperature of 0.5 M HCI was measured and be
recorded as Ti. Next, the 0.5 g of NaOH was transfer into Erlenmeyer flask by using spatula.
The glass were used to stir the mixture until it completely dissolved. Lastly, the temperature
of mixture was measured and were recorded as Tf.
