BETTER FLIP DEMONSTRATION PROJECT

REQUEST FOR INTERESTED BIDDERS

The Lake County Ohio Port and Economic Development Authority, with the assistance of the
Lake County Land Reutilization Corporation, is undertaking a project dubbed the “Better Flip” at
557 E. 305th Street in Willowick.

The project will demonstrate how to renovate a 1950’s bungalow into a millennial-friendly
smart home. The Port Authority is going to create a web site with videos about the process and
we are looking for local contractors to bid on all the various elements of the Better Flip. As with
any project of this scope we are going to need nearly every sub-trade and are seeking
contractors to bid the work. The selected sub-contractors will be asked to work with the video
crews creating short videos on all elements of a renovation project.

We anticipate starting construction in June and hope to complete work before Labor Day, after
which we are going to host a series of open houses before auctioning the house.

The design by TDA Architects of Willoughby incorporates a number of elements that we hope
will make the house attractive to young couples, encouraging them to move into western Lake
County suburbs, as a key element to a strategy to attract future workers for Lake County.

On Friday May 25th and Weds May 30th the Port will be scheduling tours of the house to discuss
the project with interested contractors who might be interested in bidding. If you would like to
