BLANCHARD WITH WORKING AT INTERNAL WARD dr SOEBANDI HOSPITAL JEMBER

Hersey and Blanchard's leadership style is a process of influencing the activities of individuals or groups
in an effort to achieve goals in specific situations. Such style of leadership can be classified into four,
including: instructions, consultation, participation and delegation. Whereas, the discipline of work is
awareness and willingness of someone to obey all laws and social norms in force.
This study used cross sectional design. Total sample comprised 20 individuals. The independent variable
was the Hersey and Blanchard's leadership style and the dependent variable was the working discipline of
the nurses. Data were analyzed using Spearman Rank Correlation with significance level < 0.01
Results of data analysis using statistical test Rho Spearman Correlation with a significance level of 0.01
was obtained using the SPSS 16.0, revealing p value = 0.004 and r = 0.609. It can be concluded there was
relationship between Hersey and Blanchard's leadership style with work discipline.
This study concluded that Hersey and Blanchard's leadership style is related to the discipline of work. A
good leadership style can improve the discipline of work. This can be a suggestion for the management of
internal wards, Dr Soebandi Hospital, Jember, to apply Hersey and Blanchard's leadership style in order
to change the discipline of work in the wards.
