1. a. Determine loop currents i1 ,i2 and i3 for the network shown in fig.1. Calculate [10]
the power dissipated across each resistor.

b. State Superposition theorem and find the voltage drop across the 2Ω resistor [10]
using the same for the network shown in Fig.2.

2. a. Determine the value of R for maximum power transfer to it for the circuit shown [10]
in fig.3. Also find out the maximum power transferred to the resistance R.

3. a. Determine I and Z T for the circuit shown in fig.4. [10]

b. A 20 Ω resistance and a 30mH inductance are connected in series and the circuit [10]
is fed from 230V, 50Hz, AC supply. Find inductive reactance, RMS value of the
current, voltage drop across resistance, voltage drop across inductance, apparent
power, reactive power, active power and power factor.

4. a. Simplify the following function using the rules of Boolean algebra and implement [10]
the logic circuit. F(A,B,C,D) = A’B’D + A’BD + BCD +ACD

b. Construct the Karnaugh maps and find the minimum SOP expression for the [10]
function and realize it using basic gates.

5. a. With a neat circuit diagram explain the construction and working of NPN [10]
transistor in Common Emitter (CE) mode.
b. Explain the operation of N-channel depletion type MOSFET characteristics. [10]
6. a. Derive the emf equation of the transformer. [5]
b. Explain the principle of operation of a Induction Motor. [5]
c. Explain the types of DC generators. Write their terminal voltage equations and [10]
draw their circuit diagrams.
