A Hidden Figure

but
Not Really

Me
● Area of Interest: Politics/Lawyer

I like politics and would like to make changes to how America’s

government is today. By studying law I can get into politics easily and I
will also am more likely to get a job than if I just majored in political
science.

He was a lawyer & is also my favourite President

John Marshall
● Politician & Chief Justice of the United States
● Homeschooled and attended one year at Campbell Academy
● Attended lectures in the College o William & Mary
● He began his own legal practice after being admitted by
Virginia Bar
● Was a: Delegate for Virginia, US Representative, one of the
diplomats in the XYZ Affair, Secretary of State, Supreme Court
Judge.

He’s most known for Marbury v Madison because it de ined states rights through the 10th
Amendment. He also helped de ine the boundaries of the federal versus state government
(which weren’t so clear before).
Le Connection
1. His innovation affects everyone in the US because he de ined the 10th Amendment and
what the federal government could have jurisdiction over. If it weren’t for his rulings
then the federal government could have either too much or too little power.
2. I don’t speci ically want to become a Supreme Court judge but I do want to work in
government; my goal is to help change the way things are being handled in the country.
Marshall is a good example to have because he did just that.
Extension
I can be an innovator by representing the country and striving to make changes on how
our country’s foreign relations along with its health and environmental concerns. I want to
help rede ine the 2nd Amendment in order to shave a safer America and help with the
poverty. I can get a degree in law and from then on get an internship at a local government in
the state and slowly go up from there whether it is to run to become a Representative or
become a translator for the UN.
