It is with great pleasure (and a smidgen of trepidation!) that we announce a change in the way that you will make your reservations for the
Parent Teacher Conferences (PTCs) in the High School for October 18th and 19th. This year, we are going to attempt an online
approach to conference reservations to see the teachers of your child. Please note that this change to the reservation process is for High
School only – the Middle School will continue to run their arena style conferences in the middle school gymnasium.
th
The new system will go live on September 27 , at which time you will have access to the PTC Scheduler part of PowerSchool /
PowerParent – once logged in to PowerSchool you will see a new icon, named “PTC Scheduler” along the top menu bar at the right –
clicking this icon will send you directly to the PTC Scheduler. Pop-up-blockers will need to be turned off to allow access to the next page.
1
“Confirm Reservation” Page
The last step of the reservation process is to CONFIRM YOUR RESERVATION. You MUST click the “Confirm” button before your
reservation request is accepted by our system.
2
Once accepted, you’ll be taken back to the “View Reservation” Page where you will be able to see the confirmed reservations in orange.
“Print Reservation”
Click the icon of the printer or click the “Print Reservation” link to pop-up a one page view of your reservations. This page will be
reorganized in order of date and time to make it easier for you to navigate your way around the two PTC afternoons. Please print this
page and bring it with you to the conferences.
3
Many thanks for your continued support. We look forward to seeing you on the afternoons of October 18 and 19 and hope that your
Parent Teacher Conference runs smoothly (both on the day and during this initial reservation portion).
Sincerely,

Theory of Knowledge Presentations
Shall I teach you what knowledge is? When you know a thing,
to recognize that you know it; and when you don’t know a
thing, to recognize that you do not know it.
That is knowledge.
Confucius
On September 27th, 28th 29th and 30th the Little Theatre will be filled with Theory of Knowledge students completing their Internal
Assessment presentations for the course. Students will be presenting investigative reports on various topics from the realms of art,
history, natural science, and the human sciences.
TOK students must explore the nature of their selected topic and critically evaluate beliefs and knowledge claims involved. These
findings must be communicated clearly in their presentations.
We cordially invite parents to visit the Little Theatre and witness/discover what these students have accomplished thus far in the
course. Each student will be given a schedule and will present in one of the five sessions – either the morning or the afternoon slot
on one of these dates. Each student will be required to be in attendance in the Little Theatre for the full session for his/her ToK
class so he/she may have an early arrival or late release depending on the schedule. Please be aware that students cannot simply
arrive at the time scheduled for their particular presentation. The schedule and the presentation topics will be posted on the ToK
blog in the next few days. http://tok.ism‐online.org/
We encourage parents to “drop in”. It will give you a real sense of what the Theory of Knowledge course is all about and the
opportunity to see your children in action.
Sincerely,
TOK Teachers
