READING COMPREHENSION: Read the following text. Scan it and write the name of the
right place next to each sentence.

Wonders of the 21st Century

In the ancient world there were many wonders. The seven wonders of the ancient world were
truly amazing architectural structures, some of which are still around today. But in the world
we live in today there are even more spectacular wonders, far more than seven. They are
located all over the world in different countries; built by people of all nations, cultures and
languages. Now here, there are just a few of these amazing wonders, some of the 21st
century’s wonders of the world.

Millau Viaduct: The Millau Viaduct is located in Millau, France; it is a

work of both engineering prowess and architectural grace. Across the
river Tam, in the south of France, it is the tallest (1,122 feet) and
longest (1.6 miles) cable-stayed bridge in the world. It took only three
years to build; it was manufactured off-site, moved into place and
aligned with the help of a GPS.

San Francisco Federal Building: The San Francisco federal building, located in
San Francisco, is an 18-story home for federal workers; it was the first office tower
in the U.S. to eliminate air-conditioning, over 70% percent of its area. It
accomplishes this through a computer- controlled skin that actively adjust to
weather changes. Its narrow floor plate allows for natural ventilation, while metal
sun screens shade the floor-to-ceiling windows. And even more impressive are
the skip-stop elevators, sky gardens, and open stairs that allow employees to
work and interact with one another.

Chanel: Chanel, Tokyo, Japan. The glass facade of Chanel’s store in Tokyo
lights up the night with 700,000 embedded LEDs; the massive display can show
an electronic version of the brand’s signature black-and white tweed pattern, or
a video of a fashion show. The electronic mural can also transform from
transparent to opaque, thanks to a combination of 3,675 square feet of canvas
scrim and electronically controlled privacy glass. That makes this structure truly
remarkable.

Fiera Milano: The Feira Milano, located in Milan, Italy incorporates

eight exhibition halls, totaling 345,000 square meters of space. The
unique feature of the complex is an amazing glass-and-steel canopy
that stretches for 1,300 meters, connecting the myriad buildings. The
volcano-like protuberance near the entrance is formed by a square
mesh; the free-formed portion of the canopy is formed by rhombic
meshes.
