-​Preface
One of the most abundant types of food that the modern people consume is fried chicken. And
because of that, the amount of chicken restaurant has increased dramatically. Many media also started to
portray several representations of this sensational food. Many youtube videos have content regarding the
consumption and creation of fried chicken. While this aspect of Korean culture is expanding across
peninsula, the Korean housing industry also facing large problems. Specifically, a large amount of
speculation(the purchase of an asset with the hope that it will become more valuable at a future date)
causing a large disparity between profits, as well as, a significant surplus of houses. Keeping these
problems in mind, we wanted to compare to see if the price of houses has anything to do with the amount
of chicken restaurant around the nearby area in cheongna city. Cheongna International City served to be a
sufficient candidate as it is one of the three cities that are part of the Incheon Free Economic Zone
Authority(IFEZ for short)
We decided our Null and Alternative hypothesis.

Null Hypothesis:​ The price of houses and amount of restaurants are not related.

Alternative Hypothesis:​ The amount of restaurants increase as house prices increase.

-Data Collection
In the case of data collection, we first decided to divide Cheongna city into three districts

This district separation was done by the government during the development of the city, and thus, proved
to be a adequate separation of an otherwise large city.
​DATA COLLECTION STAGE I
We then began by collecting data on the prices of houses by 3.3m​2 ​ for each apartment complex in
Cheongna. We acquired the data through multiple housing transaction websites so that the data we
collected is true. The following chart gives our data on the apartment complexes.

prices.

In the case of collecting data on the number of Chicken restaurants we utilized multiple websites to count
the amount of chicken restaurants.
However, due to the possibility that the internet might not have data on some of the restaurants, we
decided to actually go around each district in search of chicken restaurants.
This proved to be the correct move, as we found multiple chicken restaurants that were not listed on the
internet.
The following charts give information on the chicken restaurants in each district.

We then created a scatter plot respect to the average price of the districts and the amount of chicken
restaurants.

After creating this, we could see a clear problem behind our original data collection method. The 3 data
points proved to be not statistically significant due to the lack of data points.Furthermore, a regression
line showed a residual plot that had a distinctive shape.

Another problem was seen as we were examining the individual statistical value. First of all, the standard
deviation of each of the variables were inside of there 10% range. Another problem is the correlation
coefficient of the two values. A coefficient of 0.200 is too low for us to say that there is any statistical
correlation between the two variables.
​DATA COLLECTION STAGE II
We then approached the problem in a different way. We counted the number of chicken restaurants near
each apartment complex. And then we created a new scatter plot with the data.

Just by looking at the scatterplot, we can say that there seems to be little to no correlation between the
house price and the amount of chicken restaurants. But, to be sure, we should calculate the correlation
coefficient

The results show that it seems like that the price of the house has little to nothing do with the amount of
chicken restaurants near the apartment complexes.​ Which gave us evidence to accept the null
hypothesis​.
However, we were still curious on what the amount of chicken restaurants differed so much.

We then moved on the look at the amount of schools in each district respect to the amount of chicken
restaurants.
Alternative Approach
We counted the number of schools in each district and created a scatter plot to show the relationship
between the two.
Correlation
The the result was limited but linear enough to be seen as a correlation.
We concluded that there is a correlation between the number of schools and the amount of chicken
restaurant in each of the districts in Cheongna.

So, if you want chicken in a hurry in cheongna, try and go and find a school and you might be able to find
a chicken restaurant with high probability.
