This brings me to another important celebration happening later this year. In August,
Christ Church, Duanesburg will celebrate its 225th anniversary. An Anniversary Committee has
been working behind the scenes preparing a series of commemorative events to help us
celebrate the founding of the church in 1793 (see Poster of Events). According to a list prepared
for this year's Convention, Christ Church is the 5th oldest parish in the Albany Dioceses. The four
longer established parishes are St. Peter's, Albany (1715), St. George's, Schenectady (1735), St.
John's, Johnstown (1763) and Christ Church, Ballston Spa (1787). Our theme for the anniversary
year is "To God be the Glory". We believe that not only has God has done great things for us in
sending Christ to die for our salvation, but that he also continues to work, by the Holy Spirit, in and
through the family of believers at Christ Church for his Glory. So, what can we bring to celebrate
this important milestone in the life of the church that could add something special to the
occasion? All we are asked is to bring ourselves - and of course a heart full of gratitude and
joyful praise for "all he has done".
