Spring
2018_SJB
Beyond-‐the-‐Basic
Productivity
Tools
(BBPT)
Lesson
idea
implementation:
This
lesson
is
designed
for
students
to
compare
the
lives
of
Martin
Luther
King,
Jr.
and
Jackie
Robinson.
Students
will
finish
creating
the
Bubbl.us
graphic
organizer
using
information
they
have
gathered
on
MLK,
Jr.
and
Robinson
throughout
the
unit.
Students
are
able
to
refer
back
to
any
of
the
previous
material
we
have
covered
in
the
first
two
lessons
(shown
on
the
Instructional
Software
tab
and
the
Basic
Productivity
tab)
when
creating
their
product
but
are
highly
encouraged
to
find
a
different
source
that
teaches
the
material.
The
teacher
will
show
the
students
the
“shell”
that
has
been
created
for
the
students
and
explain
that
they
are
to
add
on
additional
bubbles
to
include
the
important
events,
contributions,
and
character
traits
that
relate
to
the
two
historical
figures
in
Georgia
History.
The
teacher
will
demonstrate
how
to
add
on
bubbles,
change
the
colors
of
the
bubbles,
and
other
features
this
tool
contains.
After
explaining
the
assignment
to
the
students,
the
teacher
will
divide
the
students
into
six
groups.
Each
group
will
be
assigned
to
one
of
the
colored
bubbles
at
the
bottom
of
the
shell
and
be
responsible
for
researching
the
information
pertaining
to
their
assigned
bubble.
Groups
are
to
include
information
to
add
at
least
five
bubbles
to
their
assigned
topic.
To
allow
students
the
opportunity
to
explore
their
historical
figure
more
closely,
each
person
will
be
responsible
for
finding
a
fun
fact,
about
the
historical
figure
their
assigned
bubble
is
tied
to,
that
has
not
been
covered
in
class.
Each
student
will
post
their
fun
fact
under
the
appropriate
Fun
Fact
bubble.
Once
the
group
has
researched
their
information
and
fun
fact,
they
will
have
access
to
the
above
MLK,
Jr.
and
Robinson
Mind
Map
and
they
will
be
able
to
post
and
present
their
findings
with
the
rest
of
the
class.
After
each
group
has
posted
their
answers
to
their
assigned
bubble
and
each
of
the
students
have
posted
their
fun
fact,
the
class
will
come
back
together
as
a
whole
and
each
group
will
be
able
to
present
their
section
to
the
class
as
a
closure
activity.
Students
are
assessed
on
their
ability
to
collaborate
with
each
member
of
their
group
as
well
as
present
information
to
the
whole
class
through
using
the
Mind
Map
correctly.
This
lesson
is
designed
to
allow
the
students
to
collaborate
as
a
whole
class
in
order
to
display
all
the
important
material
from
the
Georgians
and
Civil
Rights
Unit.
Students
are
engaged
in
learning
by
completing
a
task
and
creating
a
product
using
an
online
BBPT.
Students
achieve
LoTi
level
4
because
they
are
forced
to
use
higher
level
thinking
skills
and
examine
the
previous
learned
content
more
in-‐depth.
Reflective
Practice:
I
feel
as
if
this
lesson
allows
students
to
expand
on
their
learning
in
the
sense
of
exploring
information
of
the
two
historical
figures
from
Georgia
in
more
depth.
Students
are
asked
to
use
other
resources
to
find
the
information
but
are
allowed
to
refer
back
to
previous
material
we
have
completed
and
reviewed
in
class.
This
lesson
is
both
a
review
of
the
two
historical
figures
but
is
also
an
introductory
activity
for
the
final
project
for
this
unit.
After
students
complete
this
activity,
they
will
use
the
information
to
conduct
a
compare
and
contrast
essay
about
Martin
Luther
King,
Jr.
and
Jackie
Robinson.
Another
way
to
have
students
complete
this
lesson
using
BBPTs
is
by
having
them
work
in
their
small
groups,
same
idea
of
different
groups
for
each
of
the
colored
bubbles,
but
have
the
students
build
a
board
on
Discovery
Education.
Students
would
then
share
their
board
with
the
class.
We
would
later
display
each
of
the
groups’
boards
in
the
hallway
in
a
similar
presentation
as
the
Bubble.us
presentation
design.
