Following Jesus, His Words and His Ways

Our Purpose:

It is the desire of our hearts to join with all participating families to lead, pray, and train
children in the ways of the Lord. We long to encourage all children in developing their own
personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ. In relationship with Him daily, we are
equipped to be all that He created us to be.

It is also our goal to provide a structured environment to inspire a love of learning and working
together in a group setting. We plan to work as a team assisting and encouraging our tutorial
students and families.

Statement of Faith:

We believe and teach the Bible to be the inerrant and infallible Word of God. We believe that
there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: God the Father, Jesus the Son, and the
Holy Spirit.

Commitment:

We expect that each family participating in our tutorial to have a current membership with an
“umbrella school.” If you need assistance with information or help registering, we will be glad
to help.

We expect that each family commit to the following:

1. Read and discuss with child the enclosed Discipline Agreement (parent and
student signatures required)

2. Sign and date the Medical Release Form

3. On the first day of class submit all nine checks for the year

4. Please pray for our tutorial program, students, families and tutors.

Tutor/Helper Requirements:

We commit to have leadership and teachers that have a strong commitment to the Lord, that
support our vision and that work creatively to encourage children in learning and seeking to be
all God created them to be.

2
Policies for Illness and Inclement Weather:

Children should not attend class if they have had a fever in the past 24 hours, or symptoms that
might be contagious in any way. If symptoms occur while they are at LCCT, we will call for
them to be promptly picked up.

In case of snow, we will always follow the Rutherford County School Closings. Please watch the
local news for closing details.

Field Trips and Family Events:

Throughout the year we desire to have opportunities for families to go on field trips together.
We will try to give plenty of advanced notice, although these opportunities sometimes come up
without much warning. If you have any ideas and would like to organize a field trip or
approved activity for the group, please let us know. We welcome volunteering!

Parent and Teacher Discipline Agreement:

Our policy is to NOT paddle or spank your child. If you are called because of inappropriate behavior, we
will ask you to administer discipline with your child. We need your cooperation in this matter. If you are
called, it is because there has been a violation. As the parent, please address the behavior and carry out
necessary consequences. If you refuse to accept and work with us on proper discipline, you will need to
reconsider being a part of this program. We are committed to the training of our children in the way
they should go and that means appropriate correction when necessary.

PARENTS WILL BE CALLED ON TO ADDRESS THE FOLLOWING BEHAVIORS:

1. Profanity or bad words – If a child is unsure if a word is considered bad, they should ask
a parent or teacher before using it. “I didn’t know it was a bad word” will not excuse the
behavior and there will be an immediate phone call to insure that consequences follow. The
child will need to miss the remainder of that school day. If use of profanity does not cease with
parental consequences administered, we will need to consider asking the child to withdraw from
the program.
2. Dishonoring another of God’s Children – We want to assure that every child will feel
safe and secure from name calling, gossip, criticizing or belittling. There will be one warning and
then the parent will be called to administer consequences. However, if the name calling is
profanity, there will be no warning and the parent will be called immediately. Names such as
stupid, idiot, retarded, etc…, are belittling and rude. These words will not be tolerated. One
warning will be given. If it happens again, the parent will be called.
3. Disrespecting Teachers – Blatant disobedience, rudeness toward teacher or bad attitudes
toward the lesson that the teacher has planned, whining, and complaining attitudes will not be
tolerated.
4. Disrupting Classroom Behaviors – Yelling, hitting, kicking, throwing objects or excessive
interrupting of the lesson being taught will not be tolerated. These behaviors prevent successful
and enjoyable learning.

3
5. Content of Speech – Topics talked about will be honoring to God. For every child’s
protection, no scary stories or talk of horror movies will be allowed. No topics with rude, dirty or
scary content such as jokes, pictures, drawings or music lyrics will be allowed.
6. Clothing – Please, no slogans or inappropriate influence on T-shirts or personal items. Please
dress in a modest, appropriate and considerate way. Ladies this includes paying attention to
length of shorts, skirts and low cut tops. Please do not encourage thoughts, behaviors or
products that God Himself would not want for His children.
7. Relationships- We believe if you are with us this year, God has put us together as family. We
will treat each other as brothers and sisters in Christ. As brothers and sisters we will establish
close relationships, caring, and encouraging one another. However, brothers and sisters DO NOT
DATE or have "boyfriend/girlfriend" relationships. This is our policy as family. No exceptions. God
puts family together to be your very best friends and to learn to get along and relate with others.
When it's closer to time for marriage then it is appropriate for a different level of relationship--
time for that is much later, not now. We do however encourage all students to form positive
social skills, being able to relate to and work with a wide variety of people. It is very important
to be able to develop and maintain Godly relationships with various ages and peoples. Those
caring, relating social skills will give support and encouragement today and develop Godly
friendships that will last a lifetime.
8. Appropriate Behavior and Fun- God's Word is very clear about behaviors that are
appropriate and those that are not. Each student is held responsible for making right choices.
The following rules are designed for your health, well-being and happiness: take good care of the
body God has given to you, this includes putting nothing in or on your body that would hinder,
impair, hurt or intoxicate you in any way including alcohol, tobacco in any form or any illegal
drug. Take care of your body by exercising and feeding it healthy food options for optimum
performance and growth. You will have lots of choices in this life- MAKE GOOD CHOICES.
Please encourage each other in following Jesus with our whole hearts and choose friends and fun
that honors God while keeping you safe, healthy and happy. Violation of these rules will cause
you serious problems-very serious problems at tutorial- and throughout your life.

Daily Classroom Behavior and Following Directions-

While learning classroom rules your child will be given a daily “3 strikes you are out” system. Each
strike will be written down and recorded for the parent. At strike 3, the parent will be called to address
the problem. The child may stay to complete the day if attitude and willingness has improved. If
inappropriate classroom behavior continues to be an issue, the parents will be asked to meet with the
teacher and discuss options. If withdrawal becomes necessary, the checks for the remaining months will
be returned. If it is after the deposit date, that month’s check cannot be returned, but the following
month’s checks will be. Supply fees will not be reimbursed. Supplies purchased by the tutorial on the
child’s behalf will remain with the program.

Cell phones and mp3 players of any kind are N0T TO BE USED OR SOUNDING
DURING CLASS TIME, students may check phone during scheduled breaks and
lunch. If distracting during class, it will be taken to Mrs. Kathy and not returned
until the end of the day.

4
*IF IT BECOMES NECESSARY, WE WILL PROVIDE A VISIBLE SAFE PLACE FOR CELL PHONES TO BE
DURING SCHEDULED CLASS TIMES.

Exit Policy:

A written notice is required if a student is exiting the program. 4 weeks of tuition from the date
of the letter will be withheld and all other checks will be returned.

LCCT’s Goals :

In each class and program at every level, as well as through any extracurricular activities, LCCT
strives to:

1. Teach all subjects in the curriculum from a Christian worldview.

2. Provide a clear model of biblical Christian discipleship through the teachers and helpers.
3. Encourage every student to continue developing a personal relationship with the Lord.
4. Emphasize grammar, logic, and rhetoric in all subjects. (Grammar involves the basic
rules and facts of each subject; Logic involves learning to think through arguments,
cause and effect, why; Rhetoric involves the means by which the grammar and logic of
each subject may be expressed clearly).
5. Encourage students to develop a love of learning and to achieve their academic
potential.
6. Provide an orderly and safe atmosphere conducive to achieving the stated goals.

Because our classes only meet once a week, they are not intended to teach all that the student
needs to learn. Much parental/tutor involvement is required in order for our tutorial to be
successful. Even if parents do not teach, they must make sure that their student completes the
required work. Each Monday we will review the unit for the week and plan related activities.
The parent will need to oversee the completion of each weekly unit. Our classes meet for 30-34
Mondays beginning in August and ending in May. We take a two week fall break in October,
two weeks at Christmas, and two week in March for spring break.

PLEASE BE CONSIDERATE AND BE ON TIME TO PICK UP YOUR CHILD

We are looking forward to a wonderful year of learning and growing in

relationship with Jesus and each other!
