Bali is famously known by its beautiful beaches, culture and scenery. It attracts not
only local tourists but foreign tourists from around the world as well. They come to Bali to
enjoy the beaches, relax their mind and get away from their busy activities. The number of
foreign tourists in Bali was not always steady. Before 1995, there was a steady drop of
number of foreign tourists in Bali which was about 600.000 tourists. Then there was a sharp
rise from 1995 to 1996. In 1997, the number of foreign tourists was in a peak or was
reaching the highest point and it reached a total of 1.000.000 tourists.
But then some economic issues happened in Indonesia between 1997 and 2002, and
the issues affected the number of foreign tourists in Bali, it fell dramatically and was in a
bottom out or was reaching the lowest point during 2002 with a total of 250.000 tourists.
After that, the economic issues were solved and the number of foreign tourists in Bali
started to increase slowly from 2002 to 2005 or called as a plateau.
After the economic issues were solved, some natural disaster happened in Bali and
then again it affected the number of foreign tourists. It remained steady or stayed the same
during 2005 and then started to increase gradually until 2008 and it reached about more or
less 500.000 of foreign tourists.
