Chapter I
THE PROBLEM AND ITS BACKGROUND

This chapter contains the general idea of the researchers’ topic. Together

with, this first chapter is composed of introduction, the background of the study,

the theoretical and conceptual framework. Also, it comprises the statement of the

problem, the hypotheses, the significance of the study, the scope and limitations

of the study and the definition of terms.

Introduction
Many years ago, some individuals have poor knowledge about their

surroundings and the issues about their country. As the time passed by, modern

technology has revolutionized the way of communicating and interacting of

people all over the world. Additional, the process of everything had also changed

and improved much better than before.

Especially in the terms of education, it also has some changes that made

students encountered different conflict on their country. The way of their

interpersonal communication will also be affected by the variation of technology.

Education is the key of success that everyone needs to have it; the main spice of

our entire life to have better life in future.

Most of today’s students are having difficulties on getting information

about their homeworks. But, the modern technology shows off and serve as one

of the useful sources of the students on their study.


Today’s generation used different kinds of High-Tech gadgets of

technology. It gives information and data that answers the problem of the

students according the task that given to them. It also helps them to develop their

understanding about their study and to gain their knowledge in other things. They

also enhance their ability and skills to have high grades to made their parents

proud.

We come up this study to determine the importance and advantage of

using technology through the learning of the target students. As well as, how the

students handle their limitation when it comes in using technology. Together with

this, the teachers that educate students will also benefit to this study because

nowadays they used technology in instructing those eager students to learn a lot.

Also, it is helpful for them to use technology because it will be easy for them to

teach students well.

Theoretical Framework

According to the citation of Bilbao, Corpuz, Llagas and Salamandanan

(2015) the Role of School according to Functional Theory is stating that the

purpose at functions of a school is becoming one of the references in enhancing

those people inside it. School is the one which teaching those little part of the

community. Also, the spread of mass media in todays present days just to help

those students in their studies. This study is enunciating some things that

subordinate and lead by school especially the students of it.

The paradigm of the study is included of underlying (input), process

(process), outcomes (outputs) and feedback. The underlying of the researcher’s

study is based on the problems faced by the students of Grade 11-Deuteronomy.

Whereas, the process is contains of the tasks that the researchers performed to

obtain the results of their study about the importance and impact of modern

technology to the learning of the Grade 11-Deuteronomy students like interview,

survey-questionnaire, collecting answers and analyzing the answers. Also, in

output, the respondents are expected to give their perspective to the questions

that the researchers prepare for them because it will be helpful for the

researchers’ study. Lastly, the feedback is being used when there is a reaction

from the target respondents.


Statement of the Problem

The research study entitled “Advantage of Modern Technology to the

Learning of Grade 11-Deuteronomy students in Senior High School of Tanauan

City College” that need to know the following:

1) What are the different kinds of gadgets that students used?

2) How long did the students use technology in studying?

3) What are the advantages of modern technology in their learning’s?

4) Why did students use modern technology in their studies in school?

5) What are the recommendations that the students can suggest?

Hypothesis

H0 : If they use modern technology it will help them especially when they need to

search for informations or datas that they need in their studies.

Ha : If they use modern technology it won’t help them especially when it comes to

pornography that can infect their young minds that can led to poor grades in

school.

Significance of the Study

The researchers believes that this study will give importance to the

academic performance of the students of Grade 11-Deuteronomy. This will also

helps to the following:


To the respondents, the result of this study will boost them to gain their

knowledge about the importance of using technology.

To the parents, the effect of this study will help those parents to feel comfortable

to the grades of their children because the modern technology gives a goal effect

on their study.

To the teachers, the result of this study will support the teachers to know that

the students use modern technology in a useful way.

To the future researchers, this study will benefit them to have background

knowledge. It will also serve as their guide to their future study.

Scope and Limitations

This study is all about evaluating the importance of having modern

technology. The limit of this study will focus on Grade 11-Deuteronomy students

of Senior High School in Tanauan City College A.Y. 2017-2018.

The respondents of this study are the Grade 11-Deuteronomy students

that have a total number of seventeen students who’s using modern technology.

Definition of Terms

While researching, the researchers have found a lot of unfamiliar words

that they used in their study. Here are the terms that they used together with their

meanings;
Advantage. It is a factor or circumstances of benefit to its possessor.

Encountered. It is the way to have or experience some problems or difficulties.

Evaluating. It is the way of determining the significance, worth, or condition of

usually by careful appraisal and study.

Generation. It is a group of people born and living during the same time.

High-Tech Gadgets. It is the use or creation of new scientific methods or

materials especially when they involve computers, cellphones or other electronic

devices.

Interpersonal Communication. It is the way of communicating which you’re

talking between people.

Knowledge. It is an information, understanding, or skill that you will get from

experience or education.

Limitation. It is something that controls what a person is able to do.

Revolutionized. It is the way of changing something into a new completely.

Sources. It is something that provides what is wanted or needed.

Variation. It is a change of something in the form, position, condition or amount.
