Campus of East
Central Iowa
The Human Services Campus (HSC) of East Central Iowa was the first new post-flood
construction project in Cedar Rapids using I-JOBS funding.
The HSC will cost approximately $15,000,000 to build. An I-JOBS grant will cover
$10,000,000 of the total. A coalition of community partners has agreed to raise $5M
of private funds to cover the remaining balance.
A public/private partnership has come together to make this project possible. Linn
County and the City of Cedar Rapids played key roles in helping to secure funding
and have worked closely with local nonprofit and business leaders.
No money contributed to the United Way Campaign will be used to build the HSC.
The Human Services Campus is a 65,000-70,000 square foot facility that co-locates
multiple nonprofits - three floors of office and meeting space with parking
underneath.
Project employed 30-40 onsite construction jobs and 15-20 offsite support jobs.
Facility will be home to 130 employees, hundreds of volunteers and serve over
10,000 clients.
The HSC location is conveniently accessible by car, bicycle, on foot or via public
transportation; 1/2 city block between 3rd and 4th Street SE and 7th and 8th Avenue SE
in the downtown development area.
A separate 501(c)(3), Human Services Campus of East Central Iowa, has been formed
to coordinate the planning and construction, and oversee the management and
operation of the facility.
