The College of Arts and Sciences is committed to facilitate the implementation of the basic
goals of the University through its Curricular programs to produce individuals with
competence and values essential to sustaining human development, specifically the College
shall;
1. Provide and maintain relevant curricular programs that adhere to the standards of
regulating and accrediting agencies through effective and efficient management
practices;
2. Develop knowledge and arts, culture, and community – based language through
written and oral communication skills development.
3. Produce career an business- oriented individuals through development of analytical,
quantitative, and problem-solving development;
4. Develop entrepreneur skills through practical application of mathematical principles

In three to five years, our Bachelor of Arts major in English Language are
expected to:
1. Exhibit efficiency and effectiveness of the use of language in their
field of endeavour;
2. Participate in the various types of employment, development
activities and public discourses particularly in response to the
needs of the communities one serves; and
3. Partake in the generation of new knowledge or in research and
development.

COURSE SYLLABUS

equip students with business and technical communication skills, specifically the skill in writing business
correspondence required in their discipline. Furthermore, the course is intended to prepare students for
the job application through effective application letter and resume and undergoing interview exercises.

ON ATTENDANCE
1. Attendance will be checked by assigned class monitor and must be verified by the instructor every meeting.
2. 15 minutes would be the grace period for late comers. Beyond the grace period, he or she would be considered as absent.
3. Three times tardy in class would be equivalent to one absence.
4. Attendance would be considered when rating class participation and performance.
5. Attendance would be checked if a student is still part of the class. For absentee student, the University policy in dropping a
student from the course would be strictly observed.
ON CLASS PARTICIPATION
1. If one is scheduled to do an oral/written presentation but failed to come on time, the class will not wait for him/her so
she/he loses the chance to report unless s/he made a prior arrangement with the course or with his/her classmates
regarding his/her absence or tardiness.
2. During one’s scheduled presentation, s/he should also take the responsibility to facilitate the routines of the class.
3. In the case the instruction is not around 15 minutes after the start of the class time without any notice for the class, the
presenters could proceed to the presentation under the supervision of a co-teacher.
CLASSROOM REQUIREMENTS
1. Students are required to attend the class promptly and regularly as stipulated in the University Academic Policies and
Procedures in the Revised Students Handbook
2. Students should perform, if not all, at least 75% of the laboratory exercises.
3. Students should have to prepare his/her report based on the topic assigned to him/her.
4. Students should include some activities and/or laboratory exercises upon making or delivering his/her report.

5. Students’ report should be done through a multimedia presentation and must be saved in a USB Flash drive provided by the
class.
6. Student must attain 60% passing percentage in their final grades.
7. Students should have to conduct his/her demo teaching.
