• 81 delivered the evaluation form, all results are reported graphically in the pages
5-14 in this document.

Which topics should we have spent MORE time on?

• More time on offshore activity, operational

• Hoisting, lifting, wires/ropes, fatigue, corrosion etc
• Technical, new technology, Quality, think new
• More videos, more pictures
• Many nice people, fabulous dinner, nice with pipe band
• Good timing and management by the session chairmen
• Many really well prepared and good presentations
• Experience from inspections and maintenance as presented by Stein Ove
Dyngeland was very beneficial. More of that would be appreciated
• Technical difficulties and challenges
• Hands on really cares, accidents, problems presented by real crane operators
• Accidents/incidents investigation
• Cross border differences in legislation
• Best practices, i.e. BS7072 units are not allowed in Denmark, The Netherlands.
EN 13411 Wire Ropes ferrules (?) are not allowed in Norway, Norwegian ferrules
are not allowed in Europe (UK, NL)

Recommendations for topics for the next conference?

• Results, statistics, and highlights from inspection and maintenance of cranes
• Mechanical handling – philosophies and strategies
• Sleeve bearings
• Why not have the conference in a large place/centre that can accommodate all
delegates, and not have to spread over 5 hotels!
• The use of lifting equipment offshore + control/inspection.
• Loads of 300 kg also injuries
• Standards, rules and regulations to operate
• Maintenance (offshore) cranes + hoisting/lifting equipment
• Subsea lifting experiences
• New technology on ropes, winches etc.
• Lessons learned, good and bad
• Standards
• Maintenance, integrity management
• Dyneema and electric winches
• E-learning, training and competence assurance programs
• More from crane manufacturers and suppliers
• Crane overviews in the North Sea and World wide

• Change the conference hotel venue. 2 years ago, Ardoe House was much better

Other comments

• The facilities and lunch could have been better

• Consider another place than Aberdeen. Taxi problems and low service level on
hotels, probably due to “too busy business” in Aberdeen
• Alternative proposals: Other place in Scotland or Holland
• No commercial presentations
• Stavanger and Aberdeen are the most expensive places to travel to and stay in.
Suggest to have the conference in London, Copenhagen or LAS PALMAS
• We waited on the bus for one hour the first day outside the Station Hotel, not
acceptable. This hotel is a bad hotel
• Waiting for bus outside Station Hotel the first day was not good. The hotel had a
standard that was not acceptable
• Delegates should be accommodated in the same hotel or as close to each other as
possible
• Too few delegates were accommodated at the conference hotel.
• With so many delegates attending the conference facilities, the hygiene in the
toilet areas was bad
• Lunch and presentations in same room is poor
• Should be 2,5 days not 3 full days
• Should stay away from sales type presentations
• Thank you, enjoyed it!
• The conference hotel one place and staying another place is no good
• The conference hotel had poor service, food and coffee
• Presentations given on other seminars/conferences should be referred to, i.e.
West Epsilon episode
• Minus for hotel, food, water/coffee
• All delegates should live in the same hotel
• Start 08.00 last day, too many disappear after lunch the last day
• It was a very good conference, and it should be done in one full week
• A three day conference may be too long and tiring. Suggest to shorten to two
days with split workshops
• One or more break-out-session or interactive presentation
• Visit some interesting location (e.g. rig, OEM, etc)
• 3 days is a little long, should provide internet stations
• Audio- video excellent!
• Could not always read the lower half of the screens. They needed to be raised up
higher
• Not very good logistics regarding food and coffee (lunch and coffee brakes)
• All delegates should be able to stay in or very close the conference hotel
• Try 2 day conference instead of 3 days next year?
• Bad that persons that thought they were to stay at Hilton’s were moved to other
hotel without notice
• Access to exhibition was poor, too isolated from coffee/lunch. Inadequate signs to
show were exhibition was
• Please provide a display screen for the chairman. You couldn’t see the large
screens from the stage
• Difficult to arrange a conference in a wide room. Presenter only addressing one of
the screens
• Lunch facilities not too good
• Too little coffee for coffee brakes
• Poor facilities. The Spires Hotel not good. Next conference should be in Esbjerg,
Amsterdam or Stavanger
