plant at Sorong-Papua, Indonesia
PERTAMINA plans to electrify its basecamp at Kasim-Sorong, with
solar photovoltaic plant. The tasks cover the followings;
- Conduct field survey to identify and characterise the electricity
needs and load profile, electricity demand and growth estimation,
at PERTAMINA Kasim base-camp;
- Analyse the availability solar irradiation and identification of the
least cost solution for Kasim Base-camp;

at SHIA;

Concept for a Compentence Centre for Climate Mitigation
Technologies in East-Java, Indonesia.
Project financed by GIZ Paklim, Work Area-2. The tasks cover the
following activities;
- Elaboration of an interview guideline to gather the needed
information from potential stakeholders and clients;
- Compilation, assessment and analysis of experiences and
approaches of ongoing projects and former related initiatives such
as the Sustainable Consumption and Cleaner Production Program;
- Interviews with potential stakeholders (provincial government,
universities / faculties, industries in the province);
- Use of GIZ’s management model for sustainable development
“Capacity Works” to structure the analysis;
- Exchange of information and insights with the PAKLIM GIZ
advisory team;

Sengkang. PT. Energi Sengkang is a company engaged in the
provision gas supply for electricity power generation, located in Wajo
Regency, South Sulawesi.

PT.Energi Sengkang has been experiencing challenge in maximizing
their compliance with the government regulation, in its effort to achieve
a ‘Green’ rating, as required by the Corporate Performance Rating in
Environmental Management (PROPER). One of the requirements to
obtain a ‘Green’ rating is to improve efficiency of energy use, through
efficiency improvement measures and use of environmentally friendly
equipment.
The objective of the study is to draw the current energy consumption
for the process, identify the potential of energy saving potential and
conservation measures, and develops a comprehensive energy
conservation action plan.

04/13 – 09/13 Team Leader and International Expert for ADB TA-7781 (PHI): “Rural
Community-Based Renewable Energy Development Mindanao”.
ADB provides TA support to the Government of the Philippines to pilot
and develop viable business models for rural community-based
renewable energy in Mindanao. The Executing Agency for the TA is
the National Electrification Administration (NEA). The TA includes five
(5) pilot projects of renewable energy systems (i.e. micro-hydro power
systems). A preliminary assessment on the possible pilot project sites
was completed in February 2012. The main objective of consulting
service is to validate preliminary feasibility studies for project sites and
provide engineering designs of micro-hydro and mini-grid for pilot
projects and capacity building assessment for the livelihood
development of the local communities.

02/12 – 10/12 Team Leader and Energy Conservation Expert for “Energy
Conservation Study at 5 Local Drinking Water Utility Company
(PDAM)” at Karawang, Kudus, Surakarta, Lamongan and Gresik. The
activity is contracted by Development Alternatives, Inc. (DAI) under
Indonesia Urban Water, Sanitation, and Hygenis (IUWASH) project
sponsored USAID, Indonesia

The objectives of the activities are:


- To identify the potential for energy savings and identify specific
improvements to reduce energy costs, including: evaluation of the
financial costs and benefit of proposed improvements at 5 PDAM;
- To improve the skill and capacity of PDAM Management and
operational staff to conduct energy audit and reduce energy cost.
PDAM staff who follow training in this activity will better know and
understand the energy efficiency audit process and be able to
conduct field energy audit measurement;

04/12 – 06/12 Identification of potential pilot projects for waste to energy investment
in Indonesia. The activity is sponsored by Deutsche Gesellschaft für
Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, Indonesia

07/11 – 02/12 Institutional expert for Mini Hydro Power Project (MHPP²) sponsored
by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ)
GmbH, Indonesia

- GIZ is intended to review the feasibility and investigate the


necessary efforts (covering the cost and benefit) to connect the
existing micro-hydro plant to the grid if such a condition exists;
- The services should deliver:
- Case study on the existing the selected “on-grid” micro-hydro
plant (MHP) in Indonesia;
- Benefit and cost study for a conversion of the “off-grid” MHP
into the “on-grid” scheme;
- Implementation of a pilot at the selected site.
- The in-house activities include desk study related to, among
others: technical literatures, studies and regulations. Consultation
meeting with Project and particular stakeholders (e.g. DG-NREEC,
PLN, NGO/project developer, and manufacturer) may be required
during the desk study;
- The field activities will be required to collect field information both
on technical and social-economic aspects particularly for the
implementation of pilot.

Pipeline in Biomass Energy Sector; Biomass Cogeneration for

- Project is financed by Department for International Development


(DfID) – UK to support the Indonesia Investment Agency (IIA) of
the Ministry of Finance in developing bankable biomass energy
project pipeline;
- The study shortlists protential investment on biomass cogeneration
at 8 sugarmills, and recomend immediate investment at 1 selected
sugarmill;

09/10 – 11/10 Team Leader for a Feasibility study on Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF) and
Woodchips as Fuels for Biomass-waste Power Plant in Batam financed
by PT Medco Power Indonesia (MPI), Jakarta, Indonesia

- Study the feasibility of utilization of Municipal Solid Waste and


Woodchips wates of the municipality of Batam as material sources
for RDF feedstock;
- Select technology applied and design the processing unit of power

System Optimization and Energy Management Standards in Indonesia

Main Tasks:
• Arrange the industrial plant visits
• Socialize energy efficiency and management at industrial sectors
to industry’s energy managers
• Organize the inception workshop and vendors discussions
• Industrial energy survey
• Policy, regulatory, and institutional analysis
• Organize the National Final Workshop to communicate the
industrial survey results and findings.
• Provide inputs to Project Document for full-scale GEF funding

The industrial survey are focused on four industrial sectors; pulp and
paper, textile, food & beverages, and chemicals, covering the following
detailed tasks:

- Define a sample and prepare a list of the 250 medium and large
sized industrial enterprises to be targeted by the Survey. This was
done under the close coordination with MEMR, MoI, industrial
associations, and Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS).
- Prepare a questionnaire to be distributed to the industrial
respondents.
- Conducted several socializations to industrial associations,
industrial enterprises (particularly those located in the Jababeka
Industrial Estate and MM2000 Industrial Estate) of the selected
sectors.
- Conduct survey, brief energy audit and assist the person in charge
(PIC) to ensure full understanding of the objective and purpose of
the Survey and to encourage completion of the UNIDO Survey.
- Evaluated and analysed the collected questionnaires/survey data

Objective:
TA INO 4054 aims to design and implement on the pilot basis a Power
Welfare Scheme (PWS)” to facilitate access to locally available and
renewable sources of energy by the rural low-income households,

Tasks
- Prepare an implementation plan, including: shortlist of local banks
and financial institutions interested to implement PWS, possible

administration, management and reporting structure), procedures
(e.g. budgeting, accounting and screening), eligibility criteria for
access to PWS by a customer
- Develop a communication plan and awareness building among
PWS stakeholders (e.g. community, policy makers, and local
institutions)

Objective:
To provide the European Commission and other stakeholders with
pragmatic recommendations facilitating appropriate action to further
the implementation of renewable energy in emerging and developing
countries, taking into account:
- The effects on the local socio-economic situation;
- The competitive position of European renewable energy industry;
- The impacts on the local and global environment.
Strategic objectives
- The study will provide a complete and systematic understanding of
the existing renewable situation in emerging and developing
countries, including the distinction between traditional biomass and
new renewables;
- Identification of the technical potential of renewables in emerging
and developing countries (at the 2030 horizon time), in some
including desalination;
- Establishment of the costs and benefits (for EU industries) to fulfil
such renewable potential;
- Comparison of the results with national and international studies;
- Validation of the conclusions by a stakeholders forum;
- Pragmatic recommendations on how to implement renewables in
emerging and developing countries.

database that will be the main input of the model.

Development Bank (ADB) project TA INO 4054, Manila, The
Philippines
Objective:
The TA aims to design and implement on the pilot basis a Power
Welfare Scheme (PWS)” to facilitate access to locally available and
renewable sources of energy by the rural low-income households,
particularly low income and women head of households in the targeted
outer island areas.
Phase 1: Formulation of suitable PWS mechanism for creation and
management of a revolving fund.
Phase 2: Implement the mechanism on a pilot basis

The main task is to support team leader for the following:


- Develop a well-designed PWS manual including charter,
guidelines, financial analysis, and institutional arrangement.
- Assist and facilitate the establishment the Steering Committee
(SC) and Project Implementation Unit (PIU) for PWS
implementation.
- Assist the implementation activities undertaken by the Executing
