Dear Friend,
Greetings in the wonderful name of our Lord Jesus Christ. I read a beautiful
passage of Scripture this morning in Isaiah 55 that says, "Seek ye the Lord while He may
be found, call ye upon Him while He is near." There is a time for us to seek the Lord,
when He will be found. Isaiah was looking forward to a day when the Lord would come to
Israel as the Messiah, God in the flesh, when they could call upon Him and find Him. That
day came and many did find Him! Now, many years later, we are living in the day of grace,
a time when God's Spirit draws us to Him. He has made Himself available to those who seek
Him with all their hearts. The New Testament tells us, "Draw nigh to God, and He will
draw nigh to you" (James 4:8). If you have sinned, tell Him about it and ask Him to
cleanse you. If you have been double-minded, let God's Word purify your heart so you can
approach Him. Remember, He tells us to come to Him. In other words, we open our hearts
to Him and He draws near to us, forgiving our sins, and purging every doubt from us!
We recently heard a wonderful message at church. In this message we were
encouraged to not just have positive thinking, but right thinking! As a matter of fact, the
Bible tells us to let the mind of Christ be in us. So how did Jesus think about people and
situations? We know He loved people, for it was for the sins of the whole world He died on
the cross. So how did He think? He kept things very simple. He taught the disciples to have
simple child-like faith. In Luke 11: 9 & 10 Jesus said, "And I say unto you, Ask, and it
shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. For
everyone that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him the knocketh it
shall be opened." Very simple. A child can ask, or seek, or knock. What is your need? Have
you asked the Father in the name of Jesus? Have you sought God's will in your life? Have
you knocked on the doors of opportunity? Or have you already concluded asking is futile,
seeking is not worth the effort, and every time you knock no one's home? As a person thinks
in their heart so are they. When my children ask something of me I do everything in my
power to give them a right answer. If my family is looking for me, I do everything possible
to let them know where I am. If they need me and knock on my door, I let them in. So it is
spiritually with our heavenly Father. He does answer every prayer. Sometimes the answer is
"No," sometimes, "Yes," and even sometimes, "Not yet." But He does hear and answer
every prayer we pray by faith in His name. I am learning to let God be God and me His son.
If I know that all my cares are in His wonderful hands I don't have to fret or worry, for the
Bible says that all things work together for good to them that love God!
One of the greatest miracles a person can receive is that of salvation. When someone
opens their heart to God's Word and allows the Lord to transform them into His image, it
takes an absolute miracle. But Jesus Christ is the Miracle worker! And He tells us to go into
all the world and preach the Gospel to every creature. What an opportunity the church has in
these last days, with all the technology we have at our disposal, to get the message of
salvation to all the world! I know there are problems here and the poor are with us always.
But Jesus said, "But Me ye have not always." When He speaks to our hearts to come out to
where He is, and we know without a doubt it is His will, how can we not draw near to Him?
Even if the waters of life are choppy and the winds are blowing and the darkness is all
around us, if Jesus bids you to come to Him, just respond wholeheartedly.
We often read of Peter's various activities, but I like him because he had child-like
faith. I am reminded again of the account where the disciples were told to go over to the
other side of the sea while Jesus sent the multitudes away. It was late and a storm of wind
descended on the sea, tossing the ship to and fro. Jesus came walking on the water to go to
them! He said to them, "Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid. And Peter answered Him
and said, Lord, if it be Thou, bid me come unto Thee on the water. And He said, Come.
And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus.
When we put our complete trust in Jesus there is no telling where He will take you. He my
bring you to your next door neighbor to be a blessing to them. Or He may send you to a
foreign land to be a blessing there. As long as He is there, that's where I want to be!
But Peter saw the boisterous winds and waves and became afraid. He began to sink,
and cried out, "Lord, save me!" The Bible tells us that the Lord immediately stretched forth
His hand and caught him. He catches us every time we sink! You may be struggling a little
bit with your faith, but Jesus is always there to catch you when you call on Him. It's not too
late for the Lord Jesus to develop your faith. This life is so very short and I am convinced
we are being trained for His eternal kingdom. When this life ends we have only just begun
to live! The Bible says, "But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither
have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that
love Him" (I Corinthians 2:9). You see, we limit God's grace in our lives. But He is
unlimited! Just through this one verse of Scripture I read that the highest and best possible
scenario hasn't even entered my heart yet! And God has prepared a place for you and me
that far exceeds our greatest imagination! Another verse says this, "Now unto Him that is
able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power
that worketh in us, Unto Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all
ages, world without end. Amen." (Ephesians 3:20 & 21). He who holds our future has
plans and the power or ability to bring into existence those things that are beyond our
understanding. The only power I have is to put myself in a position where He can lead me
and guide me into all truth; where He can not only control the circumstances around me, but
fulfill His will in and through me. My suggestion to you is that you repent of your sins,
doubts, and wayward thinking, give the Lord Jesus the control of your life, and follow Him
through the Word of God. It is never too late for Jesus Christ to bring you into His perfect
will! It was not too late for Him to grant the thief on the cross redemption, and it is not too
late for you!
I invite you to our church. Our schedule of services is Sunday at 10 am and 7 pm and
Wednesday at 7:30 pm. May God bless you!!
